Title: Supportive Housing Coordinator, New Program

Location(s): Ottawa

Salary:  $62,723- $71,065 per annum based on work experience

Hours: 35 hours per week

About the role: Under direction of the Department Director, this is a new supportive housing program, in the initial phases of construction, for a diverse group of individuals with barriers who have experienced chronic homelessness.  As the Residential Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading the program design and implementation, partnership development, and community outreach phases of the project in year one. In year two, you will transition to the role of site Coordinator where you will be responsible for managing the staff team, stakeholder relations, and the overall operations of the multi-unit supportive housing program, with an opening date of Spring 2022.  This is your chance to build a program from the ground up!

As the successful candidate, you have:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a leadership and/or management role in the homelessness and supportive housing sector
  • Knowledge of the Housing First approach to homelessness, Ontario Land-Lord Tenant Act, SPDAT Assessment, and HIFIS
  • Exceptional project management / program management skills and experience
  • Ability to lead projects in start up phase, independently to completion, and provide regular updates to stakeholders
  • Experience managing the day-to-day operations and property management functions associated with a JHS residential location (multi apartment building that provides supportive housing for young women)
  • Ability to coordinate all on-site program related functions through a gender- and trauma-responsive framework
  • Skills to lead a 24/7 staff team and, in conjunction with the Clinical Director, support staff implementation of the on-site clinical model and its associated interventions
  • A strong commitment to supporting all residents, as well as youth who may be navigating the transition from youth to adulthood
  • Excellent people skills to facilitate relationships with clients, colleagues, supervisors, program partners and community members
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, as well as an ability to effectively deal with neighbour or community complaints
  • A willingness to work in collaboration with a wide variety of community partners, agencies and emergency services

  • Be on-call for program serious incident occurrences
  • Work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends
  • Have ownership of a vehicle and/or ability to be extremely mobile to accommodate meetings in the community and internally at JHS sites
  • Exercise extreme flexibility to accommodate fluctuating and varied program needs
