About the Role:

The Program Manager, Public Programming is a collaborative, forward-thinking and experienced leader who thrives on curating and creating best in class events and experiences. Evergreen Brick Works (EBW) is a community hub and gathering place. It is a place to connect with nature in the city and learn about sustainable practices, and to engage in the broad array of programs Evergreen offers. We are looking for an enthusiastic, service-oriented leader with a knack for project management, building relationships and revenue, and has a talent for managing dynamic spaces and site-based activations.

With well-developed project management and leadership skills, this Manager will oversee the curation and planning of multiple site-based projects and events, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and with maximum mission impact. They will collaborate with the Visitor Experience, Facilities, Program, Events, and Development teams, among others. The specific projects may vary depending on the capital, program or partnership needs that are active or emerging at any given time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and grow meaningful partnerships and practices that will position EBW as a leader in sustainability and inclusivity
  • Oversee the strategic direction and operations of existing site-based festivals, markets and activations such as Ignite series, Holiday/Winter Market and other partnerships
  • Work closely with the Director of Events and Visitor Experience to use existing and new programs and partnerships to drive revenue and impact to create inclusive spaces and visitor experiences that showcase sustainability in our cities
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues across the Evergreen team to plan, organize, prioritize, evaluate, and conduct risk analysis/needs assessment of activations at the Brick Works campus, in keeping with the annual Business Plan.
  • Continuously evaluate the progress of tasks, responsibilities and projects against timeframes, budget, strategic intent and organizational values. Ensure changes to project plans, including budget and schedule, are proactively and effectively managed
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures pertaining to best practices in emergency protocols for the site (e.g. fire safety, lost-child protocols)
  • Revise policy and procedures as required and ensure site staff are effectively trained and regular drills are completed
  • Act as the Duty Manager on occasional weekends, ensuring that all activities are well managed, site visitor concerns are addressed, and that site conditions (cleanliness, health & safety, etc) are met.
  • Provide leadership in shaping programs, setting goals and budgets, and creating and implementing action plans that align with organizational priorities
  • Identify measures of success, review program milestones, outcomes and impact, and ensure proper evaluation and reporting
  • Work internally across departments to help ensure the site meets the needs of all teams
  • Mentor direct reports and others and take an active role in their professional development
  • Demonstrate and promote the importance of good internal communication

You have the following qualifications:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience in facilitation, partnership development, event curation and planning, and working with diverse communities and interested parties
  • Experience in project management, including creating and monitoring work plans and budgets
  • Experience managing and coaching people and teams
  • A successful track record of using programs and partnerships to drive revenue and create inclusive spaces and visitor experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of project Management Software and collaboration platforms (Evergreen uses Wrike) or other CRM

Reporting Relationships:
  • Supervised by: Director, Events and Visitor Experience
  • Supervises: Program Officers and Sr. Program Officers
Working Conditions:
  • Position is based out of Evergreen’s head office at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto
  • Office environment with on the ground presence as required
  • Regular office hours (flexible), with some onsite and offsite evenings and/or weekends required during peak season
Contract
  • Full-time, permanent
  • Target Hire Rate: $72,000 to $77,000
    • Should candidates with considerable experience apply, we would consider hiring at a Senior Manager level: $86,000 to $88,000
