About this position

The Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is dedicated to supporting vulnerable and at-risk youth, their families and the adults in community, through a diverse variety of programs and services, in both official languages. We are seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization. As a contemporary and inclusive leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization and the lives of the youth we serve.

  • Superior Communications: Serve as a skilled and influential communicator and spokesperson, engaging with stakeholders, partners, staff, and the public to promote YSB's mission and initiatives.

  • Champion for Youth: Advocate for the needs of vulnerable and at-risk youth, working to ensure they have access to the support and resources they need.
  • Innovative Leadership: Develop and implement creative strategies and programs that align with YSB's mission and address emerging challenges faced by our youth.
  • Political Savvy: Leverage political connections and relationships to influence and advocate for youth services and sustainable funding/resources for the organization.
  • Authenticity: Lead with integrity, authenticity, and transparency, inspiring confidence and trust within the organization and the community.
  • Respect and Collaboration: Building partnerships and teams; fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, empowerment and collaboration within the organization, encouraging teamwork and open communication.
  • EDI Awareness: Prioritize Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the organization, promoting fair and inclusive practices and behaviours at all levels.
  • Cultural Competency: Can lead a multi-generational, culturally diverse workforce and respond to the needs of an increasingly diverse youth demographic.
We are looking for a highly regarded and respected community-focused leader who will build a great team and be attracted and excited by our MissionImpact Tomorrow Today – someone who can guide our organization’s future with passion and commitment to our mission of supporting youth in Ottawa.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum undergraduate degree; ideally relevant degree at the post-graduate level in Social Work/ Education/Counselling/ Business or Administration or a combination of relevant experience and education
  • Extensive experience in senior leadership roles, preferably in social services, health care, community or youth-focused organizations – understands the environment and landscape
  • Experience running a significantly sized and complex organization with multiple funders (as context – YSB has over 350 staff, $32+ M Budget)
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and partners.
  • Proficiency in English and French is essential.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage others.
  • Demonstrated commitment to EDI.
  • Be available and relatable – listening, coaching, advising, deciding.
