In 2018, the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation (“The Foundation”) was launched as an independent charitable organization founded to address the social and economic challenges facing Canada’s disadvantaged youth. The Foundation’s establishment was made possible with an unprecedented $120 million endowment from TELUS, the largest gift of its kind in Canada. With a mandate to help vulnerable youth thrive in digital society through greater access to educational and health opportunities, the Foundation will directly, or through the Community Boards, provide grants to small, grassroots charities across Canada that need help in directly supporting youth in their communities. The Foundation’s work builds on the achievements of the 13 TELUS Community Boards across Canada and ensures TELUS’ commitment to giving will be sustained for decades.

An Executive Director is now being sought to solidify the Foundation’s role as a high impact community builder, both in terms of effectively standing up this new organization as well as scaling it effectively into the future. Working closely with a highly influential Board of Directors, the Executive Director and team will also raise additional annual funds to embark on other community-impacting projects that may be outside the scope of the Community Boards.

The ideal candidate is an experienced executive with significant experience from within a private or public foundation or charitable organization. Knowledge of grant making, fundraising and related CRA regulations and governance will be key, as will be an entrepreneurial spirit and comfort in being the public face of a high-profile organization.

This is a highly strategic and influential position that will appeal to a business-oriented charitable leader with an interest in the kind of innovation that can only come from working in a stand-alone Foundation able to leverage the significant assets associated with being connected to one of the world’s most philanthropic corporations.
