Job Description
The Web Content Coordinator will work with professional and technical teams providing a wide range of creative services in support of divisional strategic objectives.
 
Major Responsibilities 

  • Writes and edits creative copy for a variety of interactive media including the internet, intranet, social media, multimedia presentations, and other promotional tools.
  • Ensures that content within the division's internet and intranet sites are integrated, accurate and current. Provides evaluation and analysis of web use statistics and client feedback.
  • Provides expertise and develops and implements guidelines for the structure of information within applications and systems.
  • Consults with business units and provides support to project teams to determine business unit information and web based service to identify solutions to meet business requirements. Develops, redesigns, and improves workflows, methodologies and processes for maintenance and development of quality information and content.
  • Plans, executes and documents user interviews and usability tests.
  • Creates and presents user personas, user experience scenarios and test cases.
  • Develops, documents, implements and monitors adherence to web development and information management standards including style guides, metadata standards, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and other classifications systems for navigation or other categorization needs.
  • Assists with the maintenance and development of content libraries consisting of information and design assets in the form of text, photography, graphics, video and audio.
  • Ensures that content providers are trained in writing for the Web by setting standards. Develops, delivers and evaluates training programs and materials.
  • Assists in the development of marketing and communications strategies, including coordinated workplans and editorial schedules across multiple channels, including social media.
  • Provides expertise in the development and support of new web based products and services as the division's information needs evolve.
  • Ensures that legal and legislated standards are upheld (e.g. the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Trade-marks Act and the Copyright Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
  • Post-secondary education in Information Management or Web Content Management, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in information management, information architecture, content organization, metadata application and indexing systems.
  • Experience creating web pages using WordPress or other similar web content authoring and website management tools.
  • Experience with the Adobe Web Creative Suite tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, DreamWeaver, AfterEffects, or related graphic design, video editing, and web development applications.
  • Experience with government legislation, in particular the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
You must also have:
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills: proven ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels; exceptional technical, verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a good consulting relationship with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Ability to show initiative and self-direction, maintain currency of knowledge, identify and solve problems that require investigation and creativity, and respond flexibly and productively to multiple and changing priorities in a in a results oriented team environment.
  • Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)'s requirements and standards applicable to information including the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR).
  • Knowledge of technical, industry and professional records and information management standards, including national and international standards (e.g. ISO 15489).
  • Familiarity with metadata standards (e.g. Dublin Core).
  • Knowledge working with Web browsers across multiple platforms, navigational issues and the constraints involved in designing for online media.
  • Knowledge in formal and informal usability testing, user research and heuristic analysis, user scenario writing, documentation, test design and Quality Assurance scripting and translating user research into design decisions.
  • Knowledge writing and editing content for the web.
  • Knowledge with the implementation of web-based Document and Content Management Systems such as SharePoint or Open Text.
  • Knowledge in records management, email management and electronic document management principles and practices.
 
HTML experience is considered an asset
