Development Assistant (5-month contract)
The Mississauga Food Bank’s (TMFB) vision is a Mississauga where no one goes hungry. We relieve hunger by providing and promoting access to healthy and appropriate food for people in need.
Job Purpose
The Development Assistant is responsible for supporting the annual corporate and community partnerships revenue goals. Working in partnership with the Development team, the Development Assistant will provide administrative support and deliver best in class donor engagement.
Key Performance Areas
Responsibilities
You will be an active member of TMFB’s Development (fundraising) team by executing the following:

Provide general administrative support to the Director of Development and development team with a focus on corporate and community partnerships. The Mississauga Food Bank (TMFB) works with 500+ event/food drive organizers annually.

Provide excellent donor service by:
-
Coordinating campaign logistics for 3rd party fundraising and food drives by responding to and communicating with donors via email and phone

Liaising internally with warehouse operations staff when booking transportation and responding to enquiries

Overseeing the scheduling and booking of corporate volunteer teams

Assist with data entry and donor mailings or phone calls

Support other activities of TMFB, as required
Education and Experience
-
2+ years of professional experience in a charity/non-profit, event management, or administration environment

A college diploma or university degree in a relevant field
Skills, Competencies, and Qualities

Passion. A passion for mission-driven work and personal values aligned with those of TMFB. Concern for and interest in issues of poverty, food security, and/or social justice

Technical. Skills in MS Office and/or Google Apps for business; experience with CRM software solutions, Raiser’s Edge 7/NXT preferred. Prefer a digital solution to an analogue one. TMFB is a cloud-based, paperless environment

Scope: $5 million + in donations raised annually
Relationships: This position reports to the Director of Development, is a member of the Development Team. Outside the organization, the position liaises with donors.
Position Type: 5-month contract, full-time, some evening and weekend work required, especially during the Thanksgiving/Holiday season. Lieu time can be accrued for evening/weekend hours worked.
Compensation: $21.00/hour
