About St Aidan’s

 St Aidan’s is a vibrant and dynamic Anglican church located in the Beach neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario. We are in an exciting period of transition and are seeking a new Child and Youth Ministry leadership in addition to seeking a new Priest.  youth and family ministry is an integral part of life at St. Aidan’s  and up to 30 children and youth attend Sunday morning services. 

About the role

We are looking for someone to lead the Children’s Programming (~10 hours/week) on Sunday mornings and to lead the Youth Ministry (~10 hours/week). We are open to considering candidates interested in filling one or both roles.  Each role has flexible hours but will require a modest commitment to weekend and evening activities.

In either of these roles, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating efforts to introduce children and youth in the parish to the teachings of Christ. You will help foster a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment for our young people to learn and grow in their faith. You will report to the Priest, and build/facilitate a team of volunteers to create caring relationships and learning experiences that equip our youth/children, their families, and leaders as followers of Jesus.

Children’s Programming (~10 hours/ week):

You will:

  • Develop, nurture, and supervise a healthy, engaging, and safe children’s ministry program
  • Work with the priest and parent volunteers to implement the Sunday School curriculum     
  • Recruit and train volunteers to teach Sunday School classes, following the curriculum     
  • Prepare for and lead children’s Sunday School lessons
  • Coordinate and facilitate Sunday School music with our team of volunteer musicians
  • Lead or assist in group activities with the children (Christmas pageant, picnics, Easter Egg hunts) and attend other parish events.  These events may occur on weekends or after normal business hours.

Youth Ministry (~10 hours/ week):

You will:

  • Develop, nurture, and supervise a healthy, engaging, and safe parish youth ministry
  • Recruit and train volunteers to assist with developing and implementing youth programming
  • Work with the priest, parents, and volunteer leaders to organize and support youth events and opportunities for community service
  • Plan and facilitate 1+ youth social activities per month, and 1+ youth retreats per year
  • Establish and develop collaborative relationships with other local church youth programs

Qualifications

To be a successful Children and/or Youth Ministry Leader, you will be a baptized Christian who identifies as Anglican and/or appreciates the Anglican tradition.  You will also have:

  • Personal commitment to the development of the Christian faith and spiritual growth in young people
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of St. Aidan’s Church
  • Experience working with children and/or youth and enthusiasm for teaching/disclipling
  • A self-motivated person with strong organizational, communications, and listening skills  
  • An enthusiasm for music and leading songs is a plus but not required

Contract: 12-month contract (renewable), up to 20 hours/week (10 hours per role)

Compensation:

Salary: $13,250– $27,450 per annum depending on filling one or both roles

Benefits:  Negotiable if applicant fills both roles (total comp will remain within stated salary range)
