About this position

Are you up for a challenge and interested in making a difference in a young adult’s life?

Are you a community builder who develops deep relationships and is able to meet people where they are at? Are you patient yet persistent? Can you separate the professional from the personal? Are you calm and non-reactive? Are you self-assured and able to observe and establish professional boundaries? Are you a creative problem-solver and a good communicator? Are you comfortable providing support in person, via phone, and text?

Are you interested in (or could develop your interest in) WWE, sports, video games, social media, working out, and helping a young man to build a life for himself in Ottawa? Are you looking to work as part of a supportive team but prepared to work independently much of the time? Are you interested in making a difference in the life of an energetic, resourceful, and independent young man living with an intellectual disability?

If you have answered yes to all of the above questions we want to meet you!

LiveWorkPlay is looking for a full-time staff member who would provide support on a one-to-one basis, helping a young man to manage his day to day life, get connected to mainstream activities in the community, and broaden and deepen social relationships. This could include support with grocery shopping, budgeting, meeting neighbours, household management, supporting a healthy lifestyle, managing the expectations of the landlord and the community, supporting participation and contribution to activities of his or her choice in the community (including recreation, leisure, volunteer work, paid work), and the development and maintenance of non-paid relationships including family and friends.

There will be opportunities and the expectation to support other organizational needs and other individuals, depending on the scheduling requirements of the primary position.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, and are built around the needs of the individuals being supported, which can vary and include: daytime, evening and weekends. This is a non-negotiable item: all candidates must have flexible availability in their work schedule.

Position: Full time, 1 year contract with possibility of renewal. $47,000 to $55,000 per year based on experience, health and benefits plan, mileage reimbursed.

Must have own car and clean driving record. Vulnerable sector reference required.

3-5 years of experience an asset, but not mandatory.
