About this position
As BC’s provincial association of food banks, Food Banks BC represents and supports 100 member food banks across the province, and is a proud member of Food Banks Canada. Food Banks BC has a vision of “creating a hunger free future” for the province and achieves this through sustainable fundraising and advocacy. Food Banks BC is a recognized leader in Canada for the innovative partnerships and funding it has secured, most recently a multi million-dollar transformational grant from the Province of BC that now allows every member food bank in the province to refrigerate and recover food for more effective distribution. The retirement of a successful incumbent has created an opportunity for a new Executive Director to lead the organization going forward.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors to achieve the mission and purpose of Food Banks BC. The ED leads a small team and is responsible for executing policies, programs, and initiatives and for leading all day-to-day activities of the organization in accordance with the values of Food Banks BC. Creating value for members, building long term partnerships, and promoting effective public awareness are core deliverables of this role.
The ideal candidate brings a track record of success in a leadership role in a not-for-profit organization with parallels such as community-focus, member-driven, social services and/or a provincial mandate. Passionate and self motivated, the preferred person will have superior advocacy and relationship building skills, along with the drive and innovative thinking to advance the cause and brand provincially.
This is a highly strategic and influential position that will appeal to a community-oriented charitable leader.
