About this position

TNO - The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO) is a well-established community-based social and health service agency providing a wide range of programs and services supporting low-income and newcomer communities across Ontario and sometimes across different provinces through online services and referrals. We are seeking a Mobile Fitness Facilitator to join our team in a full-time permanent role. TNO is a great place to work and we make a difference in the communities we serve.

The ideal candidate for this role would have a minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching 1 on 1 and group fitness classes specifically designed for older adults. It is highly desirable for the candidate to have experience teaching specialized classes for chronic conditions affecting seniors, such as Osteoporosis, Diabetes, and Osteoarthritis. Certification as a Seniors Fitness Instructor by the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging (CCAA) or an equivalent certification is an asset. In addition, strong oral communication skills in English are essential, while proficiency in a second language would be considered valuable.

In this role you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading fitness activities tailored specifically for senior participants. You will have the opportunity to create and implement exercise programs that promote physical fitness, mobility, strength, and overall well-being for older adults. While conducting group and 1 on 1 fitness classes, you will need to provide clear instructions and demonstrations while ensuring the safety and proper form of participants during exercises. You will be expected to adapt exercises to meet individual needs and limitations. Fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, as well as social interaction and motivation among senior participants will be necessary. Additionally, you will maintain equipment, ensuring a clean and organized exercise space, and stay updated on industry trends and best practices for senior fitness.

Vaccination Requirement – You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to any valid medical or religious exemption from vaccination as provided by the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Screening – As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
