Team & Job Overview

As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian exporters go, grow and succeed internationally, the marketing team has an ambitious agenda to deepen exporter engagement through digital capabilities and data driven marketing programs. As part of the business development group, the marketing team is seeking an individual contributor to accelerate its digital program capacity and capability in an effort to increase awareness of EDC across current and potential Canadian exporters.  

Aspiring to be the digital platform for all exporters in Canada, EDC aims to service the total spectrum of exporter needs (information, knowledge, advisory and financial products) while allowing them to connect amongst themselves and other professionals. Relying on effective relationship building, the incumbent is expected to work across the communications, marketing, technology, business development and economic teams to constantly increase the quality of our digital platforms and deepen exporter engagement.

Reporting to EDC’s Editor in Chief, the Knowledge Content Editor is an extremely strong copywriter and editor who can create content that sings for the organization’s newest innovative assets.
 
They have a key role to play in creating content around EDC’s knowledge assets and cementing our role as a thought leader for Canadian companies ready to take their business around the world.

An agile marketer, your ability to think entrepreneurially and creatively, and to connect with internal and external industry experts will be a critical element to build freemium and premium content based on the exporter’s journey.  

Key Responsibilities & Requirements
  • Core responsibilities include copy writing, editing, and driving digital content marketing for knowledge business initiatives; 
  • Listen to our audience to firmly understand the needs and pain points of first-time exporters, to business owners moving into a new market, and how to leverage new technologies to speak to them;
  • Collaborate with Knowledge Business group to create content for EDC’s audience, including:
    • Creating and overseeing the creation of content around EDC’s newest assets
    • Embed in EDC’s knowledge business innovation lab, identifying content opportunities, and creating and overseeing the creation of content
  • Edit, and organize production for knowledge content;
  • Report back progress on KPIs to content team, Knowledge Business unit and other stakeholders;
  • Build on EDC’s knowledge content and iterate strategy based on insights / metrics from audience;
  • Leverage analytics and data on existing content assets to define opportunities of new knowledge content;
  • Align with campaigns (paid, search, social), eDM, inbound marketing and social on overall editorial calendar;
  • Apply SEO guidelines across all content assets;
  • Occasionally help the other content marketers and editors.
Discipline Summary 
  • Copy writing, editing, and driving digital content marketing for knowledge business initiatives;
  • Working with Knowledge Business team to develop content for prototypes and MVPs-versions for new EDC projects;
  • Develops and evolves content and information architecture to improve traffic volume and quality from search engines and third-party integrators;
  • Tracks usage trends of the organization's websites, digital tools including number and quality of visitors and makes recommendations to improve effectiveness and customer experience;
  • Ensures that online content is labeled in the way that best serves users' needs and integrates points to various social networking and micro-blogging sites;
  • Establishes and maintains an information architecture that is well organized, user experience driven, and presents a consistent corporate look and feel according to brand standards;
  • Analyzes the use of website content and design; takes steps as necessary and affordable to improve information content architecture and design.
Qualifications
 Screening Criteria
  • University degree in marketing, journalism or communications
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in digital agency or related
  • Experience in copywriting, content creation and storytelling on digital platforms
  • Portfolio of B2C/B2B content creation 
Assets
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Experience in Agile marketing 
  • Customer (Exporter) focus with particular emphasis on digital journey and experience (digital literacy) 
Salary Range
  • $62,000 - $92,000 + performance-based incentive
