THE OPPORTUNITY: SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER, CLIMATE ENGAGEMENT CANADA:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Advocacy, Climate and working collaboratively across programs, the Senior Program Officer Climate Engagement Canada (CEC) supports the planning, coordination, and communication of collaborative climate research projects that inform investor engagement on climate change. The position involves preparing clear and actionable materials—such as briefs, newsletters, and reports—to help stakeholders understand and act on key climate findings. The position also contributes to team learning, project management, and relationship-building with research partners and external collaborators. The Senior Program Officer will support the CEC participants’ efforts to advance a collaborative engagement agenda to accelerate Canada’s net zero transition.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be a pivotal contributor to SHARE’s industry-leading climate engagement program. Some of your primary responsibilities will include:- Plan and support facilitation of regular meetings of CEC participants to discuss research and educate participants;
- Contribute to drafting decision-useful briefs that help investors understand research findings and take action on climate change;
- Draft regular CEC e-newsletters and other communications that engage and involve network participants in research findings;
- Plan and support facilitation of meetings with new and existing research partners and CEC secretariat to take annual research projects from start to publication each year;
- Prepare slide decks, memos, briefing notes, and program reports for CEC leadership teams;
- Support development and implementation of rigorous project management strategies to deliver research reports, web content and findings with external partners;
- Contribute to the development of team learning, systems and culture to support a dynamic and growing program;
- Where appropriate, maintain relationships with and monitor developments from research partners, relevant stakeholder groups, and experts in relevant fields;
- Draft and maintain correspondence with researchers, companies, data collection, and distribution of research results;
- Provide administrative support relating to the coordination of collaborative research, and assisting with communications amongst SHARE’s partner organizations;
- Monitor and analyze responsible investment trends and issues for future action;
- Keep up to date on current issues and critical developments in subjects central to CEC’s engagement plans and relevant ESG issues;
- Monitor and research climate research developments relevant to publicly-traded companies and analyze for potential dovetailing opportunities with CEC;
- Maintain electronic records and files using established processes, or help create processes for new activities;
- Work collaboratively with SHARE’s research team to support new and emerging research and engagement objectives;
- Contribute to development of shared knowledge across the SHARE team;
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:
- Strong project management skills across multiple teams and tight deliverable timelines

- Excellent oral and written communication skills – you can think on your feet and make persuasive arguments;
- Ability to synthesize complex issues and problems;
- Working knowledge of related to climate issues is required, including familiarity with common reporting frameworks & standards used in responsible investment analysis,
- Excellent time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and balance competing deadlines and pressures in a complex and fast-paced environment;
- Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks and contribute as part of a team, including cross-team accountabilities;
- Proficiency with cloud-based collaboration tools, Monday.com, Salesforce Microsoft Suite, and database tools is an asset.
- A flexible, positive and responsive attitude, and a team-oriented approach to change-making;
- Working knowledge related to key environmental, social and governance issues is required, including familiarity with common reporting frameworks & standards used in responsible investment analysis.
AT A MINIMUM, YOU HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three to five years experience in a related role leading cross team project management;
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience related to climate change, law, human rights, or corporate social responsibility;
- Strong, demonstrated experience working on action-oriented research and corporate engagement in support of impactful issues campaigns;
- Knowledge of business, investment, and/or financial markets in Canada and internationally;
- Understanding of proper thematic priorities, including internationally recognized standards related to climate change and at least one of: decent work, human rights due diligence; equity and inclusion; Indigenous rights & reconciliation in the Canadian context; corporate governance;
- Fluency in written and verbal English is required. Fluency in French is a strong asset.
