Sunshine Therapy Dogs is looking for a part-time Co-Executive Director.

This is currently a part-time (20 hours/ week), 6-month contract position.   
It is intended that this will become a full-time position with new funding and if necessary, will be renewable until such a time.

About Sunshine Therapy Dogs:
Our mission is to help those suffering from anxiety, depression, loneliness, and general mental and emotional challenges by providing healing visits from qualified therapy dogs and their volunteer owners. A principal target is to serve young adults in school environments however, our services extend to seniors’ facilities, social agencies, corporations and individuals.

As a registered Canadian charity formed in 2020, we have provided over 1,500 visits in 3 years. We currently have a roster of 200 volunteers/dogs in metro Toronto.
Our goal is to expand to the GTA and four other Ontario cities.

The Co-Executive Director’s role is responsible for establishing and managing operations in the GTA (outside of Metro Toronto), and other Ontario cities (ideally four), and to assist with future organizational goals.

The role will include:
Establishing and evaluating visit sites and requests
Managing the recruitment, evaluation, and onboarding process for volunteer/dog teams.
Accepting and managing site visits.
Managing volunteers including queries and follow-up.
Managing relationships with clients and institutions.
Working collegially with the Co-Executive Director responsible for Metro Toronto, volunteer administration staff and Board members.

This position reports to the President (a volunteer position) and works alongside the Co-Executive Director, Metro Toronto.

Position Qualifications:
Experience managing and working with volunteers, with the necessary appreciation and skills required to do so effectively.
Experience with people suffering from emotional and mental health issues and/or having a deep empathy and appreciation for that audience.
Comfort and experience working with dogs.
Possesses qualities of high energy, self-motivation, empathy and a drive to succeed.
Experience working with Google docs and/or Salesforce.
Ability to travel as required.

Job specifications:
This position reports to the President (volunteer).
This is a six-month renewable  contract requiring 20 hours/week.
We expect this position to become a full-time after the initial six month contract.
The actual hours are flexible but a minimum of three hours/day, Monday-Friday is required.
There will be a check-in for 1-2 hours on weekends.
You will be working remotely (from home is fine).
There will be a three month probationary period.
