WHAT YOU BRING
- Two years of post secondary education or training in child & youth care or a related field
- Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Ability to teach functional life skills in a community setting
- Demonstrated ability to work with children and youth with special needs, and their families
- Ability to maintain a client’s safety in the community
- Criminal record check is a condition of employment
- Standard First Aid certificate, or concurrent training
- Driver’s License and vehicle with business insurance
HERE’S WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER
The PRIYD program is a community access program focusing on functional life skills and community integration for children and youth with special needs living in Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, and Vancouver. A support for children and youth with developmental disabilities and behavioural challenges, the goals of the program are to increase each person’s independence and to support the family. Service is provided both one-to-one and in small groups.
YOUR KEY CONTRIBUTIONS
Under the supervision of the Regional Service Coordinator, as a community-based Integration Support Worker you will provide service to families in Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster in the following ways:
- Provide one to one and group support to children and youth with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Formulate goals, action plans and strategies together with your clients and their caregivers
- Through community based recreational activities, support your clients, using coaching, modeling and emotional support, to develop life skills, age and ability-appropriate independence and integration in the community
- As a resource, advocate, role-model and community liaison, connect with social workers, behaviour consultants, educational staff and families as part of an integrated team
- Your commitment to meaningful documentation and progress reports will ensure continuity of care for your clients

Work Hours: Full-time based on 35 hours per week
Salary: $1,512.70 bi-weekly (GS7, Step 1), with a competitive benefits package and pension
Location: Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster
Hours of work: Tuesday – Friday 11:30am – 7:30pm; Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm
