About BCFPA
BC Foster Parents Association (BCFPA) is a non-profit charity working with and on behalf of foster parents to ensure the highest standard of care for children and youth in the foster system. We provide information, support and assistance to the foster parents of BC as well as consultation about policy, practice, and foster parent recruitment services to the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).
About your new job
Your responsibilities include:
- General reception duties
- Address public inquiries, process intake forms and provide referrals
- Screens and prioritizes incoming email correspondence and other materials for staff members
- Maintain membership database, registering and renewing memberships, distributing membership information and confirmations
- Assist in the detailed production of large and small events
- Compiling and distributing information packages
- Other duties as assigned
Hours: Full-time - 37.5 per week, Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
What you bring to the team
- You are fluent in English, verbally and in writing.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience in database administration is an asset.
- You are able to take direction, to listen and to learn fast.
- You are great on the phone, have patience and compassion to deal with tough calls, and a willingness to help. A friendly, easygoing demeanor is essential for this position. Previous experience in a social service or non-profit setting would be an asset.
- You are organized and take pride in your attention to detail.
- You are able to maintain confidential information and respect privacy guidelines.
- You are reliable and able to prioritize and complete tasks with minimum of supervision.
- You are able to maintain flexibility and adapt to changing work priorities.
- You have initiative and problem-solving skills. You are resourceful and able to find innovative solutions to problems.
