About this position

Brightside is currently seeking to fill a full-time, contract position on our Operations team in the role of the Mobile Field Technician. This position falls under the leadership of the Director of Operations and works under the direct supervision of the Manager, Operations & Maintenance.
MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS
• To ensure general upkeep of assigned portfolio of properties and report any larger maintenance issues; • To inspect assigned portfolio of properties a minimum of once per week; and • To provide exceptional customer service to our resident community.
KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Adhering to strict compliance with the Residential Tenancy Act at all times and particularly when providing notice to access units; • Perform in-suite repairs and maintenance, as assigned; • Perform basic repairs to common areas, including interior and exterior of buildings; • Ensure safety and security in buildings; • Ensure all lighting is operational, entry phones are functioning, exit doors and lights are in a good state of repair, railings are secured, and ramps are clear; • Basic plumbing (leaks/toilet/sink repair or replacement); • Basic electrical; • Basic appliance repair (stoves, fridges, range hoods); • Basic window/sliding door repair; • Drywall repair; • Interior/Exterior door repairs and/or lock maintenance; • In-suite demolition, as required; • Provide internal and external customer service in a courteous and respectful manner; • Communicate with residents regarding work progress;

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English – verbally and in writing • Ability to demonstrate patience, tolerance, diplomacy and exercise tact and good judgement when dealing with a variety of clients of diverse cultural, educational and socio-economic backgrounds and behavioral issues • Ability to preserve and respect resident confidentiality • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills • Good conflict resolution and problem-solving skills • Be a team player that demonstrates a positive attitude, is personable and courteous in working with all levels of staff and management • Willingness to learn and follow instruction • Good handyman skills with basic knowledge of plumbing • Must be bondable and physically fit to climb multiple flights of stairs, when needed • Must possess a valid Driver's license and clean driving record • Ability to use various functions on a smart phone (for calling, texting, emailing, and taking/sending photos) • Resourceful and able to take responsibility for assigned tasks.
