Administration and Development Manager Job Description

Hope Action Values Ethics Culinary Training Society (HAVE) is a culinary training school that provides food service job training and work opportunities to individuals in Vancouver who experience barriers to employment. HAVE students are youth and adults facing mental and physical disabilities, poverty, addictions and homelessness. HAVE provides a community that transforms individuals lives by empowering disadvantaged people to achieve self-sufficiency through life skills, job training and employment in the food service industry. Students gain on the job experience in our social enterprise catering business.

Key Responsibilities

Catering Social Enterprise Management

  • Develop client relationships

  • Prepare and manage client catering orders 

  • Create internal daily catering production sheets 

  • Manage internal logistics of catering production

  • Liaise with external delivery providers

  • Order supplies

  • Complete catering deliveries where required

  • Send weekly catering menus to clients

Fundraising

  • Research grant and government funding opportunities

  • Apply to applicable development opportunities including program design and budget in consultation with HAVE’s Executive Director

  • Develop community partnerships where applicable for project proposals

  • Monitor project targets including intake, budget and timelines

  • Engage with funders to provide updates on programming

  • Write written reports to funders

  • Acknowledge funders by way of thank you letters & on social media

Administrative & Support Tasks

  • Answering the telephone

  • Replying to general inquiry emails 

  • Support HAVE’s Professional Cook student needs as required 

  • Filing Annual Societies Reports in conjunction with HAVE’s Executive Director

  • Supporting HAVE graduates/former students with job applications, resume building, resource connections 

  • Social media engagement

  • Supporting the Executive Director as required

Job Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year of experience providing administrative support in an office setting

  • Minimum 1 year of fundraising experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), Google Suite (Gmail, Gdrive)

  • Drivers licence

  • Strong customer service skills and relationship building skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Adaptable, self starter and team player attitude

  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and manage competing priorities 

  • Thorough understanding of and experience with the Downtown Eastside Community

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time permanent position beginning July 2021. The salary is $50,000-60,000 a year. This position is based at the HAVE office in Vancouver at 374 Powell Street.
