About this position

Finding the right information or services can be a frustrating experience for many people. bc211 operates several help lines including 211 for Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Sunshine Coast, Squamish-Lillooet Regional Districts and all of Vancouver Island plus the following provincial help lines: VictimLink BC, the Youth Against Violence Line, the Alcohol & Drug Information and Referral Service. bc211 offers a single point of access for anyone seeking non-emergency human services: individual; families; people facing barriers because of language, poverty or personal difficulty; as well as professionals in government, business or community agencies. All lines are answered by certified information and referral specialists who assess each caller’s needs and link them to the best available services and programs.

While the need for these services continues to soar, shifts in funding models and increasing opportunities associated with data collection are changing the traditional operating landscape.  The new Executive Director will have the rare opportunity to identify new revenue streams, better use bc211’s valuable human services data to help funders and community planners make critical business decisions and provide critical information back to government and related agencies for better community service planning.

The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors for providing operational leadership to all aspects of bc211. The Executive Director is responsible for achieving strategic, financial, and operating objectives, and acts on a daily basis as the public “face” of the organization.

As the ideal candidate you bring a track record of success in a senior leadership position within an organization that provides services to clientele, ideally through a technology platform such as a call centre.  Alternatively, you are a leader in a not-for-profit focused on social services. Experience managing government stakeholders, leading unionized staff, and supporting a Board of Directors is key. As the preferred candidate, you have the business acumen to identify new revenue development streams and the interpersonal skills to foster partnerships and communicate with impact.

The role is located in Vancouver, BC.
