Overview:  The Director, Finance & Operations is a key senior management position that oversees financial administration/strategy and operations for the Centre. The position is instrumental in maintaining the financial health of the organization and directly reports to the Executive Director. Position priorities are:

  • Financial Oversight and Budgeting
  • Administrative Operations
  • Leadership & Strategy 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support all aspects of Finance and Accounting for the organization
  • Oversee operations of social enterprise programs
  • Manage one part-time finance and two full-time operations/administrative staff
  • Prepare financial reports
  • Monitor cash flow and investments
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets
  • Prepare financial forecasts
  • Determine financial metrics for all programs and set budgets for specific individual programs
  • Execute and ensure all government reporting and administration including payroll deductions/T4S, HST rebates, annual charity and corporate filings
  • Provide board support in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • Oversight of all contracting for suppliers and new employees

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in finance or accounting, or equivalent. Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) is an asset
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Superior accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently but also collaboratively while organizing and prioritizing work and deadlines for yourself and others
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communications skills
  • An understanding of the charitable, non-profit and social service sectors with an interest in mindfulness as a way to well-being
  • Demonstrated experience in Finance, Operations, and Management including preparing financial reports, budgets, and analysis
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
