Position Summary
Support and serve the mission of The Terry Fox Foundation through Terry Fox School Run stakeholder strategies and engagement. The School Development Officer represents their specific region to schools and all stakeholders while following a national strategy of fundraising initiatives and tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for meeting regional school fundraising targets.
- Contribute to national school recruitment and fundraising strategy development.
- Follow and implement annual fundraising strategy to support assigned revenue forecasts.
- Train/manage any summer students or administrative staff to fulfill tasks for the school program.
- Create presentation tools and resources as requested by Senior Director.
- Maintain CRM Salesforce data integrity of school registrants and participants.
- Source and secure new schools and create data files for recruitment communications.
- Develop and nurture relationships with School Run Organizers, Principals, School Boards to support continued fundraising engagement and donor retention.
- Carry out and steward donor recognition programs to include data management, processing, communications and shipping, training of administrative staff.
- Facilitate and present school visits virtually or in person to support school fundraising efforts.
- Initiate and organize speaking tour/opportunities for Supporter Relations/Fox family members to share Terry’s story and promote involvement and participation in TFF activities.
- Receive and process school merchandise orders including data entry, invoicing, payment processing and shipping.
- Process school financial submissions and pledge sheets for accurate data entry.
- Collaborate with national Schools Team and lead additional fundraising projects and initiatives including website resource updates and additions.
- Analyze yearly data to determine strategy for subsequent years.
- Collaborate on ordering and distribution of promotional materials, including Toolkits.
- Obtain grants: apply for subsidies from various governmental and non-governmental sources; ensure adherence to their guidelines, and maintain good relations with contacts.
- Respond to all school inquiries from Run Organizers, donors, and supporters.
- Provide support to tax receipting process.
- Other office duties as required.
General Office Management
- Collaborate with regional office coworkers to ensure office is properly resourced and staffed.
- Engage in all administrative tasks related to above mentioned portfolio: mailings, deposits, data base maintenance, inventory management and control, invoice payments, staff timesheets etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong people skills to support in person, email, and telephone communications and stewardship.
- Proven skills delivering presentations to large groups of school age students.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 with intermediate to advanced experience in Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task with changing priorities.
- Comfortable taking initiative, a self-starter, and able to collaborate with others.
- Courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public.
- Ability to work cooperatively and build relationships with school stakeholders.
- Energetic, dedicated, and flexible individual who works well on their own and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and support volunteers.
- Able to work flexible hours during peak Run season.
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle, may require travel within assigned region(s).
