About this position

Planeterra's Development Lead will play a crucial role in expanding our network of supporters to amplify our global impact. Reporting to the Director, Partnerships and Development, the Development Lead will contribute to and spearhead fundraising initiatives, focusing on donor stewardship, event coordination, online fundraising, and corporate partnerships. This multifaceted role entails crafting compelling communications, managing fundraising campaigns, maintaining donor relationships, and ensuring the efficient functioning of Planeterra's fundraising programs.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Designing and implementing Planeterra's fundraising strategy, encompassing donor stewardship, in-person and online events, major gifts, and online crowdfunding and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborating closely with the Director of Partnerships and Development to steward donors through various channels, including email, phone calls, and presentations.
  • Researching and cultivating new partnerships to expand Planeterra's community and secure corporate sponsorships, with a particular focus on travel partners.
  • Planning and executing in-person and virtual fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Gathering, researching, and preparing materials to engage donors across different mediums effectively.
  • Overseeing the management and maintenance of Planeterra's CRM database for donor management, including regular updates and data analysis.
  • Conducting timely fundraising tracking through Planeterra's CRM database and campaign pages.
  • Liaising with Planeterra's Regional and Program Managers to ensure accurate and timely communications with donors.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Three or more years of experience in non-profit fundraising.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Communications, Marketing, International Development, Tourism or similar) or equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience. Tourism experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in financial tracking, analysis, and reporting.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • High computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, database management (Kindful), fundraising tracking systems (Classy), and website management (Wordpress).
  • Strong understanding of donor management and the ability to cultivate lasting relationships with corporate and individual donors.
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and collaborative with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while upholding department and organizational standards.
  • Experience with corporate/employee giving and international fundraising is advantageous.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
  • Fluency in English is required.
