We are currently seeking a Counsellor to join our dynamic Family Connections team. Ideal candidates should be passionate about serving youth and families, have superior interpersonal and open communication skills, and are vibrant, flexible, and compassionate.

In this permanent full-time, Bargaining Unit Position, incumbents are expected to:

  • Complete a comprehensive, strength-based, ecological assessment, treatment and goal plan, individual to the client
  • Manage crisis situations placing child at risk of being placed outside of the home
  • Assist families in accessing and coordinating all service components within the community, as applicable
  • Meet individual client needs, including basic needs (food, clothing, housing)
  • Establish and maintain professional alliances with collaborating agencies
  • Maintain professional documentation, in the form of assessments, case notes, discharge summaries and statistical information
  • Work flexible hours related to the needs of the clients, evening work will be required
  • Regularly transport clients in own vehicle, as required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and/or post-secondary degree with several years’ experience within the mental health sector working with multi-need clients
  • Membership in the appropriate professional regulatory body under the Psychotherapy Act
  • 3-5 years’ experience using a variety of Strategic Family Therapies, crisis intervention, cognitive behavioural approach, problem solving/conflict resolution, child development, parenting skill development, behaviour management, brief solution focused therapy, structural and systemic family therapy, anger management and individual and/or group counselling working with families
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi-need clients utilizing a goal-focused approach
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and provide own transportation, with appropriate liability insurance and evidence of coverage for transporting clients
  • Fluency in French or other languages is considered an asset

Salary Range: $46,230 - $55,275.
