About this position

Position Type: Full-time 9 month parental leave contract (possibility of renewal)

Reporting to: Program Coordinator

Location: Etobicoke

Years of Experience: 2+

Start date: Immediately

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Facilitation

  • Research create and design workshop material in keeping with funder requirements
  • Effectively deliver workshops using the platform Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Facilitate in person and online workshop material in an engaging and interactive manner
  • Engage participants in workshops through interactive activities and discussions
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with participants when presenting workshops or in one-on-one meetings
  • Ensure that each participant understands the material presented and can apply it to their job search
  • Lead group work through activities in-class or on computers
  • Manage conflict or disruptions during workshops in a proactive and professional manner
  • Facilitate pre-employment workshops and information sessions within the community as needed
  • Coordinate guest speakers, training opportunities and group mentorship events

Client Assessment /Job Coaching

  • Conduct accurate assessment of candidate eligibility for the program
  • Present the program to participants in a clear manner ensuring they understand the objectives of the program and the time commitment involved
  • Assess participant needs, identify barriers, and develop service plans with appropriate interventions to help them achieve employment goals
  • Provide case management support to participants including information & referral services
  • Direct participants to employers / job postings that would otherwise be missed without appropriate coaching
  • Provide individual job coaching to participants, encouraging them to apply skills learned through workshops
  • Conduct position-specific interview preparation with each participant
  • Coach and motivate participants during their job search and placement
  • Provide one-to-one or group sessions on job maintenance to ensure participants can handle challenges on the job with professionalism and maturity
  • Contact past participants for continued job search support and/or motivation

Case Management/ Documentation & Follow Up

  • Document case notes, ensuring they capture participants’ experience, challenges, and growth in the program
  • Document relevant participant job search information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain participant case files in compliance with Employment Ontario model requirements
  • Monitor participant progress with ongoing follow up calls and meetings to ensure all appropriate documentation in EOIS/CaMS, internal databases, and hard copy file
  • Enter data regarding participant barriers and challenges in accessing employment
  • Contact past participants each month to update their employment status and offer supports
  • Maintain accurate and current data on clients in EOIS/CaMS
  • Ensure all files are audit ready upon closing in CaMS
  • Prepare and maintain documentation on participants attendance, intakes, referrals, employment outcomes, barriers, and suitability indicators, and follow up
  • Support program staff with clerical duties (document creation, hard copy file retrieval etc.)
  • Complete and provide coordinator with support documentation for client supports to be purchased

Other Duties as Needed

  • Assist in recruitment of potential participants when necessary (job fairs, visiting community centers)
  • Support the development and supervision of mentorship opportunities for youth
  • Assist in the implementation of effective program marketing strategies as needed  
  • Maintain flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Participate in The Career Foundation fundraising activities and events as required

Qualifications/ Skills Required:

  • Must possess a Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences or related field
  • Formally trained with at least 1 year of experience in supporting youth who face multiple barriers
  • Experience in assessment, case management, pre-employment skill development techniques, group facilitation, and life skills coaching
  • Solid knowledge of community resources and supports available for youth and job seekers
  • Knowledge of current labour market trends and the impact of COVID-19 on the labour market, job search techniques and employment research methods
  • Bilingual (English/French) is a very strong asset
  • Equipped to work remotely as required, with adequate internet capabilities
  • Knowledge on online communication platforms, techniques, and tools (Zoom, MS Teams) with an aptitude and willingness to learn and work with new technologies
  • Demonstrated willingness to go above and beyond to ensure the organization’s success
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills for giving and receiving instructions, participating in meetings, and writing resumes, reports, and case notes
  • A professional yet personal approach, with a high level of respect for the diversity of the people served and an ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Customer service oriented with ability to uphold the organization’s service standards and policies
  • Strong organizational skills, able to take initiative and multi-task
