Girls E-Mentorship (GEM) is a top 100 rated charity offering a research-based mentorship program for high school girls facing socioeconomic barriers to build their professional skills and achieve their career potential. We believe every young woman deserves equal opportunity to develop their skills, to pursue higher education, and build successful career paths. In collaboration with community, partners, and hundreds of committed and passionate volunteers, GEM delivers mentorship, skill-building and professional development activities, GEMinars, scholarships, internships, and research on mentorship solutions for girls and women. The Program Coordinator supports the successful administration and delivery of GEM’s programming. This role works to support GEM’s Leads, and reports to the Operations Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supports all aspects of program administration including the accurate entry, tracking, scheduling, filing, reporting and transfer of personal information and data in accordance with GEM’s privacy policies and privacy legislation.

  • Monitors emails and phone inquiries, responds to, or delegates to appropriate team members for reply.

  • Carries out administrative duties, projects, assignments, and tasks pertaining to the successful outreach, recruitment, screening, onboarding and offboarding of mentees, alumnae and mentors.

  • Supports and attends program events including GEMinars, Enrichments, Mentee, Alumnae and Mentor activities through issuing invitations, tracking, reporting on registration and attendance and supporting event logistics.

  • Supports the roll-out, screening and selection process for GEM’s annual Scholarship Awards.

  • Contributes to the drafting of communications materials including emails, blogs, notices, and newsletters.

  • Participates in, and supports other special projects and duties as required for the efficient operations of the organization and its programming.

  • Maintains excellent work records and filing in GEM’s shared storage files.

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND TALENTS REQUIRED 

  • A degree or diploma in a related field.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent data/information management skills.

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). 

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and responding to time-sensitive issues and changing priorities while meeting competing deadlines.   

  • A quick learner, with an aptitude for collaboration, and a growth mindset. 

  • Able to work with diverse communities, and approach all work through a feminist, anti-racism/anti-oppression lens.   

  • Passionate about gender equity and building more inclusive societies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in mentorship, and the issues and values aligned with GEM.

  • Strong work ethic and commitment for excellence.

Commensurate with experience

GEM is currently operating under a hybrid model. This role will be in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
