Child and Youth Workers

About this position

We are currently recruiting Child & Youth Workers for a variety of positions within our Youth Services department. These positions are in the Non-Residential Attendance Centre, Diversion Programs and prevention and intervention community programs.  

Positions include:

• 1 Full Time Bilingual (French language) Youth Worker position 
• Full and Part Time Contract positions that do not require French language proficiency

Position Requirements:

You will have:

• Ability to deliver programming to in risk youth on an individual and group basis in both academic and community settings
• Ability to work in a highly interdependent team environment
• A college diploma / university degree in a related area or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years work experience with youth in risk
• Ability to work with and provide support to families of youth in risk
• Demonstrated counselling and facilitation skills utilizing cognitive / behavioural intervention
• Skill and openness to work from a trauma informed and restorative practice perspective
• Demonstrated commitment to work from an anti-oppressive/anti-racist perspective
• Committed to assisting and supporting youth to make positive changes in their lives
• Experience working with youth in the areas of substance use and mental wellness
• Excellent knowledge of the CFSA and YCJA.
• Experience using virtual service provision platforms is an asset
• Ability to work flexible hours that include days, evenings and occasional weekends
• Full G License and clear driving record required

Fluently Bilingual in both French and English, (written and spoken) is a requirement for the full time Bilingual position.

• Capacité de travailler dans un environnement d'équipe hautement interdépendant.
• Posséder un diplôme universitaire/collégial dans un domaine connexe ou l’équivalent avec un minimum de 3 ans d'expérience avec les populations à risque.
• Capacité de travailler et de fournir un soutien aux familles à risque.
• Excellentes habiletés de counseling/interventions comportementales.
•  Capacité d'utiliser l'outil d'évaluation YLS/CMI.
• Capacité et ouverture d’esprit en vue d’une perspective de développement communautaire.
• S'engager à aider les jeunes à apporter des changements positifs dans leur vie.
• Expérience avec des jeunes qui ont utilisé des substances est un atout.
• Capacité de travailler à des heures flexibles, soit le soir ou la fin de semaine.
• Excellente connaissance de la Loi sur le système de justice pénale pour les adolescents (LSJPA) et de la Loi sur les services à l'enfance, à la jeunesse et à la famille (LSEJF).
• Parfaitement bilingue, français/anglais, parlé/écrit est essentiel.
