Marketing Coordinator

The Mississauga Food Bank’s (TMFB) vision is a Mississauga where no one goes hungry. We relieve hunger by providing and promoting access to healthy and appropriate food.

Job Purpose

  • Are you someone who would refer to yourself as a marketing generalist and is passionate about creating positive change in your community? TMFB is looking for a Marketing Coordinator who can create and manage a variety of marketing and communication tactics that will inspire people to give and help neighbours in need access healthy and appropriate food. 

  • Under the direction of the Marketing & Communications Manager, support the internal and external marketing and communication needs of TMFB, act as a brand champion, and provide support to ensure smooth operation and effective communications. This will be achieved through developing digital and print marketing materials, inspired photography and videography and engagement with our community via social media, website, email marketing and more.

Responsibilities

Brand Marketing (50%)

  • Brand elements: Be the main point of contact for the organization's brand materials. Ensure the organizational brand is accurately reflected in all materials and used correctly. Unique opportunity to bring to life a new brand that will roll out in fall 2023.

  • Graphic design: Identify and create compelling brand materials that accurately reflect the organizational brand and those we serve. Primary responsibility for the organization’s resource library, ensuring all public-facing materials are accessible to internal team members and external vendors. Coordinate production of print materials and track inventory of brand materials. 

  • Social media: Ideate, create, write and schedule content for social media using the appropriate brand voice and visual brand identity to increase and maintain brand awareness in the community. Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure all social content fits into the organization's organic social media editorial calendar. Create and manage monthly paid social media campaigns and produce reports with thoughtful analysis. Maintain consistent community management across all social platforms.

  • Communications: Using strong attention to detail, appropriate grammar and creativity, write internal and external communications pieces, including but not limited to blogs, social content, event listings and email marketing. 

  • Photography & videography: Proactively seek out opportunities to take photos and videos for the organization. Storyboard, film, and create compelling digital resources and content. 

  • Digital asset management: Be the main point of contact and owner of our digital asset library. Ensure all assets are uploaded, tagged, and managed across the organization internally and with external vendors as required.  

  • Integrated marketing calendar: Ensure the department’s integrated marketing calendar is up to date with items that are in the market across the organization.

Campaign Marketing (40%)

  • Campaign management and reporting: Be the main point of contact for all campaign materials across the organization. Ensure all campaigns are on track, on budget, and properly documented. Responsible for closing off each campaign and reporting on success, allowing campaigns to be replicated at a future date easily and efficiently. 

  • Campaign materials: Be the main point of contact for the development and execution of campaign elements. Work collaboratively with peers to roll out campaign assets in-market. 

  • Website: Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure all campaign elements are represented on the organization’s website. Ensure best practices are used for search engine optimization and that information is timely and on-brand. 

  • Social Media: Fulfill all campaign requirements on social media and ensure all necessary posts are appropriately documented for post-campaign reports.

  • Email marketing: Work with the Marketing & Communications and Development teams to ensure campaign communications are on track and fit within the larger integrated marketing calendar. Create and deploy email campaigns using Mailchimp.

Other Duties as Assigned or Required (10%)

  • Track and manage all media mentions using a media monitoring platform.

  • Oversee the collection and management of client stories with the assistance of summer placements.

  • Campaign support: Work with the Marketing & Communications team to execute major fundraising campaigns as required. 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma, or equivalent education in a related field

  • 4+ years of professional experience in marketing or a related field focusing on digital marketing and graphic design.

  • Knowledge and experience in graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite), website CMS (WordPress), email marketing (Mailchimp), social media marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube) and project management. 

  • Photography and videography experience is an asset.

  • Professional, non-profit experience is an asset.

Skills, Competencies, and Qualities  

  • Passion. A passion for mission-driven work and personal values aligned with those of TMFB. Concern for and interest in issues of poverty, food security, and/or social justice. 

  • Technical. Tech-savvy. Computer proficiency with strong skills in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Google Suite and Mailchimp. TMFB is a cloud-based, paperless environment.

  • Communication. Exceptional writing and editing skills that can break down complex ideas into digestible content. Speak, listen, and write in a clear, confident, respectful, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

  • Collaboration. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. A collaborative work style; open to supporting other departments; thrive in a fast-paced evolving work culture.

  • Creativity. A creative mind that can craft and create content for appropriate audiences. Stays up-to-date with the latest marketing and social media trends and finds innovative ways to apply those trends to the TMFB brand.

  • Flexibility/adaptability. Flexible, versatile, and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Evidence of a high degree of self-awareness, openness to continuous self-improvement, and manage well during circumstances of ambiguity.

Ability to work autonomously while prioritizing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with attention to detail and being aware of the importance of accountability.

Role Details 

Relationships: This position reports to the Marketing & Communications Manager

Position Type: Full-time, permanent. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9 am to 5 pm. Wednesday 9 am to 8 pm. Friday 9 am to 1 pm.

Location: 3121 Universal Drive, Mississauga. Moving to 4544 Eastgate Pkwy in April 2023.

Environment: Staff work on a hybrid remote/in-office schedule with a minimum of 2 days/week in the office. All staff are required to be fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.
