About this position
The North Shore ConneXions Society is a well funded and recognized community leader. For over 60 years, Connexions has been providing exceptional support to children and adults with intellectual disabilities on the North Shore of Metro Vancouver. Its 11 group homes and numerous programs and services, such as supported employment and family respite, are delivered by 220 committed staff. This deeply meaningful work enables their vision: ”a world where all people with disabilities have equal opportunities to lead active, fulfilling lives and are recognized as contributing members of the community.”
Reporting to the Board of Directors, and leading a large, unionized team, the Executive Director is responsible for delivering on key priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan such as generating new fundraising models, increasing community awareness, providing more sophisticated board governance, and increasing community participation through new programs and services.
The ideal candidate brings a track record of success in a leadership role in a not-for-profit organization that delivers programs and services with parallels to Connexions such as community social services. An outstanding people leader, the preferred candidate will be a consensus builder, capable of fostering a culture of trust and integrity within a unionized environment. The preferred candidate brings experience, devising and implementing strategy, and has the proven expertise to elevate board reporting and internal operations through the adoption of business processes and structure.
