EveryMind (formerly Peel Children’s Centre) is looking for a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic mental health professional to provide direct clinical service, outreach and case management to children/youth, ages 7 through 17 and their families.    

EveryMind is an accredited children’s mental health centre that provides a continuum of high quality mental health services to enrich the lives of children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges. Our services are provided in a dynamic, client-centred environment that values respect and inclusion, collaboration, learning, innovation and accountability.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Clinical Services, and working within a trauma-informed framework along with a multi-disciplinary team, the Child and Family Clinician will provide family-centered treatment services in-home, school, community, day treatment and residential settings to children and youth who are experiencing mental health challenges that impair their functioning and require an intensive level of intervention.

Hiring salary range $59,824 - $65, 432 (3 Step Range)

This is a 15 Month Contract position until March 2022 with a generous total rewards package of 4 weeks’ vacation per year, personal leave, and 4% base salary to compensate for benefits. 

Due to COVID-19, counseling and service will be provided primarily via phone and virtual means with in person meetings as required to meet the client’s treatment needs. 


Job Responsibilities:

The incumbent will:

  • Provide skilled assessment, formulation, and treatment services to children/youth and their families/caregivers by employing a variety of systemic and evidence-based/evidenced-informed treatment approaches (including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT skills, and the trauma-informed ARC framework) to enhance parent/family and child/youth interactions and functioning at home, in school and in community.
  • Develop, implement and regularly evaluate treatment plans according to individual client and family/caregiver needs, goals, strengths and cultural values;
  • Facilitate the enhancement of the child and family’s informal and formal supports;
  • Effectively design and implement a holistic crisis plan to ensure safety within the residential/day treatment/home/school/community settings;
  • Provide case management and outreach services to ensure coordination and delivery of services that meet changing needs of clients and families;
  • Provide transition support and discharge planning to clients exiting service to ensure sustainability of treatment gains.
  • Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team in team, clinical, program and agency meetings
  •  Maintain comprehensive case records and data for all clients in accordance with the agency standards and timelines
  •  Maintain a high level of clinical competence, participate in professional/program development, clinical training opportunities and staff training, and remain current in the knowledge of and adhere to agency policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related health/social services discipline with a minimum of three years’ experience in direct service to children and families
  • Membership in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario.
  • Proven ability in child/youth family assessment and mental health treatment and experience in related children/youth services.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement child/youth/family evidence-based/evidence-informed mental health treatment approaches (e.g. CBT).
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a trauma-informed, client-centred, strength based approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly with the family and respond to their changing needs in a creative manner.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Proficiency in languages in addition to English is an asset.
  • Embraces diversity and demonstrated cultural awareness with critical self-awareness and understanding of engagement with the culture of children, youth and families.
  • Have a valid Ontario Driver’s license (Full G Class) and use of a vehicle with a comfort in driving clients throughout the Peel region (surrounding areas)
  • Strong skills in client record documentation and experience with client care information systems and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector police records check and pre employment medical screening is required prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekday evenings, according to client needs.
