The Douglas Students’ Union invites applicants for the temporary full-time position of Organizer – Clubs and Collectives.  

TERM: Temporary - Full-Time, 6-Month Term, August 15, 2024 to February 15, 2025 with the Possibility for Extension

HOURS PER WEEK: 37.5 (some flexibility required)

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Organizer-Clubs and Collectives shall be primarily responsible for working with the members of the Board and the Executive Director to oversee the Clubs Program and work directly with the Constituency Representatives – Accessibility Representative, Indigenous Students’ Representative, Pride Representative, and Women’s Representative - on equity campaigns and membership representation functions of the Students' Union. The Organizer-Clubs and Collectives will also assist with external relations and coalition work as it relates to the Constituency Representatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Students’ Union is seeking applicants with the following qualifications:

  • 2 to 3 years working in the advocacy, not-for-profit or post-secondary sector;
  • A high school diploma plus some post-secondary education;
  • Thorough knowledge of the student movement and its aims;Experience working on post-secondary education issues, specifically those related to students;
  • Experience developing and implementing social justice campaigning and advocacy work;
  • Experience managing clubs and/or a variety of student and/or community groups;
  • Experience planning and organizing both large and small events;
  • Experience executing customer/member service functions;
  • Basic experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software;
  • Experience producing reports, making presentations and undertaking basic office administration functions; and
  • Experience handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system.
