We are currently seeking a Youth Mental Health Court Worker (YMHCW) to join our dynamic team. Ideal candidates should be passionate about serving youth and families, have superior interpersonal and open communication skills, and are vibrant, flexible, and compassionate!

In this permanent full-time, Bargaining Unit Position, incumbents are expected to:

  • Establish contact and coordinate services with community-based mental health service providers for court diverted youth, who are suspected or diagnosed with mental health issues
  • Complete intakes and mental health assessments, follow up and case management
  • Prepare a service plan and coordinate the provision of services by collaborating with other mental health professionals and any available supports and services for youth
  • Provide consultation to the Judiciary and Counsel, recommending diversion services or terms to be included in youth court orders
  • Provide information and support to family members of youth with mental health concerns/issues, who are involved in the Youth Justice Court
  • Prepare a service plan and coordinate the provision of services by collaborating with other mental health professionals and any available supports and services for youth
  • Be able to travel to assigned court location, as requested

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, Master’s in social work is preferred; or bachelor’s degree in related program with additional experience in the mental health field
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the social services field and working with youth with mental health issues
  • Demonstrated mental health assessment and case management skills
  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and the Mental Health Act and mental health resources available
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License, in good standing, having access to a vehicle with insurance as per agency policy
  • Fluency in French or other languages is considered an asset

Salary Range: $46,461 - $55,551
