In this role, you'll spearhead our strategic vision, drive fundraising initiatives, oversee fiscal budgets, and provide dynamic leadership across our organization and centers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will inspire, lead, and collaborate with the society’s highly dedicated and engaged staff and volunteers to support the following responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Develop and Implement Strategies: Formulate and execute strategic plans to achieve organizational goals in collaboration with the board of directors.

  • External Representation and Partnerships: Enhance the organization's visibility and credibility by participating in external events, marketing the brand, and cultivating strategic partnerships to boost community awareness and program expansion.

  • Team Leadership and Alignment: Build and lead a committed team, ensuring all activities align with the organization's mission and values through successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising efforts.

Fund Development, Grants & Partnerships

  • Pursue Funding Opportunities: Identify and secure financial support from grants, foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government sources to ensure the facility's financial sustainability and meet annual fundraising goals.

  • Collaborate on Fundraising and Communications: Work with staff and the board on fundraising events and manage all external communications, including the website, marketing materials, newsletters, and social media, to enhance outreach and support.

Operational Management

  • Operations and Compliance: Oversee all aspects of the adult day care facility's operations, including program development, participant care, facility maintenance, and compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.

Financial Management

  • Budget Development and Management: Create and oversee the budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation.

  • Financial Reporting and Reviews: Prepare accurate financial reports for the board of directors and lead annual financial reviews, audits, and regular financial updates with senior management.

  • Financial Modeling and Forecasting: Supervise the development of operations-based financial models and coordinate budget reviews, audits, and periodic forecasts to ensure financial stability and transparency.

Staff Management

  • Recruitment and Training: Recruit, hire, train, and manage staff, creating a positive and inclusive work environment.

  • Retention and Development: Retain a diverse, highly qualified team by offering career coaching, personal development, performance evaluations, and professional growth opportunities.

Participant Care and Program Development

  • Staff Management and Collaboration: Oversee staff responsible for client care and collaborate with healthcare professionals and community organizations to enhance and expand programs.

Community Engagement

  • Liaison and Relationship Building: Act as a liaison between the center and the community, promoting services and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, participants, families, and community partners.

Quality Assurance

  • Standards and Improvement: Establish and monitor quality assurance measures and implement continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback and evaluation.

Risk Management

  • Risk Identification and Safety Protocols: Identify and address potential risks, and develop and implement safety protocols and emergency procedures.

  • Salary: Competitive salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 CAD, tailored to match your expertise and achievements.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration, social work, business administration, Gerontology or a related field. Masters Degrees are not required but preferred.  

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of proven work experience in a senior leadership role within a healthcare and/or social services setting. 

  • Experience in preparing and/or overseeing an annual operating budget, including responsibility for expenditures, fundraising and operational management.

  • Experience leading, managing, mentoring and developing staff and volunteers.

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills in fiscal management, strategic planning and delivery, and program development.

  • Experience reporting to a Board of Directors in a direct or acting capacity in a health care or non-profit society preferred.

  • Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising initiatives. 

  • Proven experience building relationships and working directly with health care, government and public sector officials, partners and stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of regulations and standards related to adult day care facilities. 

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to make sound decisions and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills. 

  • Commitment to the well-being and dignity of older adults and individuals with disabilities.
