Have you ever wanted to work in a dynamic, and supportive work environment?  The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine is the place for you.  We are currently seeking a detail oriented, customer service focused individual for the position of Junior Accountant to provide accounting and administrative support in the Finance department.   Reporting to the Controller, this position will be responsible for various functions in accounts payable and accounts receivable, assisting with student registration, handling of student inquiries regarding tuition fees, assisting with annual audit working papers and preparation of tax reports (T2202A and T4A).  Additional responsibilities will include reconciling various monthly revenue accounts, analyzing financial statements, cash float counts and control, financial reporting, account maintenance, financial information system (FIS) user support and training.  This role will provide back up to the other Junior Accountant and Senior Accountant.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion or enrolment in a CPA program
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar accounting position
  • Functional knowledge of general ledger account reconciliations, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable operations in a not-for-profit and/or educational environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff as well as external contacts
  • Professional and able to display exceptional discretion and judgement skills
  • Computer literacy with accounting/finance software, preferably in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Excel as well as word processing programs
