Salary Range:             $52,130 - $63,610 Annually

Position Summary

Working within NCC’s Ontario Finance department, this position will provide support for the financial management, tracking, analysis and reporting for NCC’s Ontario Region. The Finance Coordinator will also play a supporting role in ensuring that donor and grant related requirements are met, and activities are tracked. The role will require knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, data analysis, grant and program administration from transaction level detail to report summarization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to prepare entries in the format compatible for import into FE accounting system.

  • Prepares accounting records for month-end and quarterly reports.

  • Assist the finance team in the management of accounts payable and receivable.

  • Responsible for providing support to staff in the region in the preparation of financial statements required by donors as well as any financial information as requested.

  • Reviewing employee time sheets to ensure accuracy of funding sources.

  • Participate in the preparation of the annual budget and financial statements. 

  • Participate in the standardization of accounting procedures and the improvement of the financial process in the region.

  • Oversee the financial progress of grants and large scale, complex government reporting for various NCC funding needs.

  • Manage the grant budgeting process and gain input from various NCC departments and staff.

  • Manage and monitor donor and project tracking with internal grant identifiers and assigned rates to ensure NCC’s financial systems are accurately and efficiently tracking project performance.

  • Work closely with Ontario and National staff to oversee the coordination of donor audits, ensuring all supporting documents for project expenditures and contracts are available in advance and are in compliance with terms and conditions of donor agreements.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and manager team.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required;

  • 3-4 years’ experience in accounting;

  • Understanding of not-for-profit principles, experience in a not-for-profit organization or knowledge of project accounting is an asset;

  • Advanced skills with MS Excel, Office 365;

  • Knowledge of ADP, Tenrox, Concur (SAP), Blackbaud’s Financial Edge NXT and Raiser’s Edge software advantageous;

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;

  • Knowledge of land conservation and natural habitat management an asset.
