PART TIME (21.5 Hours) Outreach Counsellor

Women's Resources is a woman-led organization dedicated to the promotion of safety and equality for all women. Women’s Resources provides shelter, counselling, resources and referrals to women and their children who have experienced Intimate Partner Violence. We are currently seeking a Part Time Outreach Counsellor to provide counselling services weekdays both during the day & some evening hours.  

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in Social Work, Psychology or similar, incorporating extensive training in counselling modalities. The candidate must have an advanced feminist analysis of violence against women and anti-oppression/anti-racism/social justice principles and the ability to transform this analysis into trauma-informed practice inclusive of providing danger assessments & safety planning. Additionally, this candidate must have demonstrated knowledge and the ability to provide strength-based harm-reduction counselling strategies & supports for abused women experiencing alcohol or drug dependency and/or have issues with mental health. Experience in carrying an active case load consisting of both short term & longer-term clients, setting goals, maintaining boundaries within a therapeutic relationship is a requirement. Ideally the candidate should be familiar with local community agencies, legal services and resources and articulately and confidently be able to advocate with these services on behalf of Outreach clients. From time to time, the candidate will be required to design & facilitate workshops, support groups or community information events. Only candidates that have exceptional verbal and written skills, computer proficiency in databases and ASIST will be considered. The successful candidate will be positive & complementary part of the Community Services Team; able to collaborate & communicate well within a respectful environment.
