Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities is a national charity dedicated to helping kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in an effort to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities. With an extensive, national network of more than 1,000 grantees and 289 local chapters, Jumpstart helps eligible families cover the costs of registration, transportation, and equipment, and provides funding to selected organizations for recreational infrastructure and programming.

Reporting to the Manager, Program Development the Advisor, Community Programming and Measurement will lead Jumpstart’s community granting and measurement and evaluation portfolio as an integral member of Programs and Operations team.

The Advisor is the primary point of contact for all inquires related to Community Grants. The individual will aggregate, analyze and issue specific recommendations using data generated from grant applications, perform research and environmental scans to help inform changes to existing program structure and lead the implementation of Jumpstart’s Measurement and Evaluation framework.

Program Design

What you’ll do

  • Building, creating and managing all application forms and requirements within the grant system
  • Creation of program related tools and policies to support the optimization of funding decisions
  • Maintain expert knowledge of grant best practices and internal and external trends in granting
  • Issue recommendations to Manager, Program Development on projects that should be considered for funding by Jumpstart
Measurement And Evaluation
  • Research, recommend and implement strategies to enhance the capacity for impact measurement amongst the internal team and over 1,000 grant organizations
  • Develop a data analysis framework to continually measure the impact of Jumpstart Grants
  • Operationalize the documentation and dissemination of findings to inform decision making and continuous improvement of granting and measurement practices
  • Provide subject matter expertise and best practices in program evaluation and measurement
Data Management And Analysis
  • Support data and reporting requirements through the preparation of a variety of reports. This includes data extraction, evaluation, monitoring and communication of key performance indicators.
  • Respond to all requests for data from internal partners
Manage the development and execution of special projects that drive Jumpstart’s vision and mission

What You Bring
  • University and/or College education in a related discipline
  • Experience with Grant Application Systems
  • Experience in Measurement and Evaluation
  • 5 years’ experience in a grant administration or analytical role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify and build value added analytics/reporting
  • Proven track record of delivering precise reports and analysis
  • Ability to “tell the story” on analytical findings and trends
  • Strong cross-functional relationship building ability
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong MS Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills
  • Results oriented, flexible and willing to work in a multi-task and dynamic work environment
  • High degree of customer service and focus
  • Excellent coordination, planning, communication and organizational skills
  • Passionate about increasing opportunities for children and youth to participate in sport and recreation
  • Experience in a similar capacity within the not-for-profit sector is an asset
  • Bilingual (French) an asset
