The Database Manager will manage the Foundation’s fundraising database and online platforms providing support to the Senior Director of Finance and Operations.  The Manager is a member of the Finance & Operations team with lead responsibility for all fundraising database needs of the Foundation, working in collaboration with other teams to support the strategic priority to expand our donor base through broad community engagement for sustainable future revenue.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Lead and manage the data integrity, functionality of, and reporting from the Raiser’s Edge database, the Foundation’s source of donor/prospect activity and giving history.
  • Develop and design customized queries, reports and donor lists utilizing thoughtful data analysis and strategic skills to support the fundraising activities of Foundation teams. 
  • Lead/convene an internal Raiser’s Edge user group to improve coding structure, policies, operations, and procedures manuals.
  • Proactively design and maximize the use of Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online to support the Foundation’s growth objectives.
  • Work closely with IT to maintain system integrity and data quality, facilitating new software and version upgrades, and identifying and implementing new functionalities.
  • Perform routine database maintenance and other quality control procedures including monthly, quarterly and yearly clean ups, elimination of duplicate records, running global changes, and creating queries to keep records up-to-date.
  • Responsible for online fundraising platforms (internal and external) and data integration to ensure live data is available in accordance with CRA/Foundation guidelines.
  • Manage the online giving strategy including the Foundation’s symbolic giving catalogue through regular updates and creation of online donation pages.
  • Support direct mail and finance database needs including data extraction, revenue and tax receipt processing in accordance with the Foundation and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines.
  • Assist at signature events and other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, Raiser’s Edge NXT and Luminate fundraising platforms.
  • Aptitude for technology with ability to learn and effectively use new systems proficiently.  HTML and graphic design an asset.
  • Self-starter, motivated to take on new initiatives and open to taking informed risks with sound judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency, meticulous attention to detail and adaptable to changing priorities and demand.
  • Resourceful and independent, yet comfortable working within a team environment where sharing ideas and building on learnings and each other’s experiences and strengths is encouraged.

 

WORK SCHEDULE & REQUIREMENTS:

Available to work Monday-Friday, 7.5 hour each day. Schedules may change based on operational needs.
