Case Manager – Vancouver Rent Bank & Violence Prevention Fund

 

Reports to:

Manager of Lending Programs

 

Program Description:

The Vancouver Rent Bank (VRB) is a program of Network of Inner City Community Services Society. VRB provides non-interest loans to families and individuals that live in the City of Vancouver and are at risk of eviction or essential utility disconnection due to a temporary shortage of funds. The Violence Prevention Fund (VPF) is a smaller non-interest loan program that runs out of the VRB and assists women who have experienced violence.

 

Job Description:

Working closely with the Manager of Lending Programs, the Case Manager is a key front-line team member and often the first point of contact for VRB clients. Case Manager duties include:

  • Reviewing loan applications and documents, scheduling and conducting interviews
  • Writing applicant case summaries and keeping organized client files
  • Facilitating client loan repayments
  • Responding to all inquiries (via phone, email, and in-person)
  • Advocating for clients with landlords and other organizations
  • Providing and facilitating referrals for clients where possible
  • Providing program presentations and outreach to community organizations

 

Hours:

Part-Time: 25 - 30 hours per week. Scheduled work days can be negotiated with supervisor.

 

Compensation:

$22.00 per/hour with benefits.

 

Requirements:

  • Social Services Certificate, minimum 2 years front line social service experience or, a combination of relevant education and frontline experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to use MS word and excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Able to work from a home office and travel to office location one day per week
  • Able to work with individuals in crisis
  • Strong knowledge of available community resources
  • Fluent in two or more languages is a strong asset but not a requirement
