Resource Development Summary
The Manager, Resource Development will secure funds for the CCSN by managing a group of assigned and qualified donors (caseload); spending the majority of their time developing and nurturing relationships with current donors. Assure strategic stewardship, support, and active cultivation of existing donors. Research and solicit appropriate new donors. Understand CCSN mission and avoid mission drift.
Position Description
Stewardship
Review all funder files, understand application process, grant cycles, reporting requirements and specific funder requests.
Chart and record all interactions with funders; prepare reports for senior management.
Attend funder events, conduct introductory phone calls, cultivation visits, solicitation calls and stewardship activities, alone and with senior staff.
Create additional materials to support program fundraising activities, including proposals, presentations, briefing notes and correspondence, and assist in developing case for support documentation and deliver presentations to prospective donors.
Efficient delivery of sponsor requirements, effective quality control, clear communication to stakeholders and reporting to senior management are critical tasks.
Follow grant cycles, research and review information about funders before each renewal application.
Ensure ongoing donor recognition meaningful to each funder.
Results expected: maintain current sponsorships and generate funds on an annual basis to ensure the sustainability of the CCSN.
Planning and Development
- Understand and support events and program requirements and scope to meet CCSN mission and funder requirements.
- Establish cultivation and solicitation strategies to approach individuals, corporations and foundations, and identify tactics to achieve strategic objectives.
- Conduct prospect research to support the identification of potential major sponsors using grant database, internet, print and electronic sources as well as in‐house files
Job Requirements
- Five or more years’ experience working in the field of fundraising.
- Solid understanding of fundraising
- Experience establishing and managing operational plans and budgets
- Understand and apply the CCSN organizational mission and vision.
- Knowledge of major giving and business sponsorship concepts and approaches to donor cultivation, stewardship and marketing.
- Exceptional networking, relationship management, listening and negotiating skills, with the ability to build trust and elicit confidence from prospects, donors, corporate representatives, staff, and senior level volunteers.
- Strong business writing, presentation, verbal communication and selling skills.
- Ability to develop new relationships and cultivate existing ones in developing new prospects.
- Ability to operate with sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Ability to achieve work objectives within a changing and busy environment
