Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Business Operations will be responsible for building processes and monitoring functions that meet organizational needs in three areas:

  • Business development

  • External communication 

  • Administrative operations

The incumbent will manage the performance of two full-time employees and will supervise any additional short-term contractors, interns or volunteers involved in Pride at Work Canada’s business development and operations. 

Compensation & Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is $50,000-55,000 per year. The benefits package includes 3-weeks’ paid vacation, dental and health coverage that includes gender-affirming care, amounts for paramedical services and other enhancements that consider the health care needs of queer and trans people. 

Work Hours & Location

Full-time, Monday to Friday is preferred. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to negotiate a work schedule that is flexible. Must be adaptable to occasional evening and weekend work. Pride at Work Canada’s offices are located in downtown Toronto. The organization has staff in both Toronto and Montreal. As a national organization that currently operates in a capacity that is entirely virtual (through 2021), applicants from all locations within Canada will be considered. The successful candidate will be provided with tools to accommodate remote work, such as a laptop computer. 

Responsibilities 

  • Business development

    • Lead new member prospecting, development and onboarding processes

    • Secure and manage sponsorship contracts for Pride at Work Canada’s events and activities

    • Ensure the success of earned revenue initiatives such as e-learning products and speaking engagements

  • External communication 

    • Manage the performance of one full-time coordinator who will provide support in the areas of marketing and external communications

    • Ensure official Pride at Work Canada marketing efforts, e-mail communications, website, and social media platforms are within established brand standards and are delivering on their intended impact

    • Work in partnership with staff and volunteers to ensure that all programs and events are delivered effectively

  • Administrative operations

    • Manage the performance of one full-time coordinator who will provide support in the areas of finance and administration

    • Maintain internal financial controls, manage day-to-day expenses and revenue

    • Access technological capabilities on an on-going basis and recommend enhancements where appropriate

    • Recommend operational efficiencies and process improvements where applicable

Skills & Experience

  • A degree or diploma in business administration, marketing, communications and/or professional experience equivalent to formal education is required

  • Understanding of and demonstrated experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), budgeting and financial reporting is required

  • Demonstrated experience prospecting and obtaining sponsorship agreements is required

  • Demonstrated experience with business writing and communications (in English and French) is required

  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff, volunteers and/or placement students is required

  • Experience working with 2Spirit and/or LGBTQ+ communities considered a strong asset

  • Experience working in the nonprofit and/or charitable sector considered a strong asset

  • A strong understanding of diversity, equity and human rights issues considered an asset
