Global Youth Ambassador Program Coordinator (GYAP)

The GYAP Coordinator will coordinate the CCFC Youth Ambassador Program Initiative for underrepresented young people in Canada and Paraguay for the first pilot year of FY20 and later to replicate it across the remaining five countries of operation including Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, and Nicaragua. The Coordinator leads and facilitates the creation of opportunities for youth to actively participate in and contribute to events, programs and experience exchange forums that lead the way in the achievements of the child-centered Sustainable Development goals. The Coordinator will be the interlocutor in enabling up to eight young people (desirably 18-30 years old) from each of the seven countries to have incredible opportunities to build their skills and abilities through personal interactions with youth at special events there by to drive a change process that promote gender equality, quality education for boys and girls and freedom from violence.

This role includes, but not limited to:

1.  Launching CCFC’s Global Youth Ambassador Program

  • Complete all of the key start up activities for the successful launch of the Ambassador Program including, but not limited, to the following:
  • Finalize Youth Ambassador selection criteria for young ambassadors. 
  • Work with CCFC’s Markham and Paraguay country office/ pilot partner(s) to finalize their selection criteria
  • for Youth Ambassadors.
  • Confirm selection process for Canadian Youth Ambassadors and for Global South Youth Ambassadors from Paraguay.
  • Engage with Youth Ambassador Program partners across Canada and in Paraguay for selection panel
  • membership and its successful operation.
  • Collaborate with internal CCFC Canadian and Paraguay personnel, along with external partners and the selected Youth Ambassadors to set up the Kick off Youth Ambassador event(s) in October 2019. The Coordinator will set the agenda, facilitate workshops, recruit speakers and panellists, arrange all logistics and bring in support as required.
  • Assist with resource acquisition (cash and in kind) for the start-up phase.
  • Manage the Program budget.

2.  Growing and Managing CCFC’s Global Youth Ambassador Program

  • Oversee the progress of Youth Ambassador community projects, mentors and partnerships in Canada and in Paraguay.
  • Facilitate the youth-led monitoring and evaluation of the GYAP in line with CCFC and Global Youth Program- Paraguay- best practices. Feed the M&E findings back into Program design and delivery.
  • Plan and execute communications, marketing and other stakeholder engagement activities in Canada and in the Global South to grow awareness, support of and participation in the GYAP.
  • Steward and facilitate the growth of the GYAP’s online movement of small, purposeful actions to change the world.
  • Coordinate, document and disseminate information internally and externally about the activities of CCFC’s Global Youth Ambassador Program (GYAP).
  • In collaboration with GYAP, plan, organize, and report on GYAC meetings and initiatives; facilitate next steps from meeting outcomes
  • Research, write, edit, proofread, photograph and video CCFC content for multiple platforms
  • Formalize and implement a process for GYAP representatives to document and share their experiences and lessons learned, towards the development of CCFC knowledge based on youth-led development best practices, tools and publications (format/process for sharing may vary from country to country).
  • Disseminate GYAP strategy and other resources and/or publications.
  • Promote youth participation and input into CCFC’s work through GYAP initiatives on relevant issues.
  • Represent CCFC at relevant local, national and international activities and gatherings to raise the profile of the GYAP and encourage youth involvement.
  • Manage and deliver projects by leveraging internal and external resources and agency partners.
  • Manage Program budget.

3.  Other:

  • Comply with all CCFC policy and procedures
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or post graduate certificate in relevant discipline (Communications, Youth and Social Development, Global Studies, Public Relations or Journalism)
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in starting up and growing a new business or not-for-profit initiative
  • Capacity to engage internal partners as well as external private and public sector organizations in a new initiative
  • A highly collaborative individual who is adept at building buy-in and shared accountability
  • Experience in developing and executing communications and/or similar youth development programs
  • As an effective communicator, this position requires excellent interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Workshop design and facilitation experience
  • Well organized and thrives in a changing, multi-tasking environment
  • Skilled and creative in project coordination, budget management and implementation
  • At least basic knowledge of Monitoring & Evaluation principles and Return on Investment calculations
  • Writing, fundable proposals and donor engagement skills
  • Social media and web content development and execution skills
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong Microsoft computer skills required. InDesign and Photoshop an asset and/or willingness to learn.
  • Basic photography and videography skills
  • Self-starter that takes initiative.
  • Demonstrated commitment to CCFC’s vision, mission and values
  • Willingness to travel locally, nationally and internationally
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, as needed;
  • Ability to speak and/or write in either French or Spanish will be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated commitment to CCFC's Vision, Mission and Values.
