Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mentorship programs for children and youth. We believe in the power of positive role models to make a difference in the lives of young people and help them reach their full potential.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our team. This position plays a vital role in promoting our organization's programs and initiatives, raising awareness, and engaging the local community. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will contribute to the growth of our agency, helping us serve more children and make a lasting impact in the communities we serve through out the Central Vancouver Island.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Create compelling content for various channels, including social media platforms, websites, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Manage and maintain our organization's social media presence, ensuring regular updates, monitoring engagement, and responding to inquiries.
  • Coordinate the design and production of marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and promotional items.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information and stories that highlight the impact of our mentorship programs.
  • Conduct market research and monitor industry trends to identify opportunities for outreach and growth.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers on effective communication strategies and branding guidelines.
  • Plan and execute promotional events and campaigns to increase community awareness and engagement.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts, generating reports and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay up to date with emerging marketing and communication trends, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Local candidate with a deep understanding of the Central Vancouver Island community.
  • Proven experience in marketing and communications, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Experience in graphic design and proficiency in relevant software/tools.
  • Event planning and execution experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to supporting children and youth.

Salary: The wage for this position will be discussed during the interview process, based on experience and qualifications.
