About this position

Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. Currently, we are hiring for Full time, Part Time and Relief positions for Martha House and Mary’s Place in the role of:

CASE MANAGER

The Women’s Services department was established in 1983 with Martha House opening its doors to support women and children leaving violence. Later in 1995, Mary’s Place opened as a shelter for homeless women. Since these foundational programs began operation, we have expanded to meet the complex needs of women and children struggling with violence, homeless and poverty in our community. Our department now operates two modern emergency shelters for women and children, an array of counselling and support services, including robust housing programs.

Working within a case management team and management support, you will be responsible for the operation of the residential programs. You will collaborate with your coworkers to respond to the crisis line, complete shift documentation, coordinate intakes internally and externally, assess risk and safety planning, and other routine tasks associated with residential programs such as preparing shelter rooms. You will also work with your teams to provide holiday celebrations activities and programming opportunities for women and children accessing shelters supports.

The reward of this work includes the professional relationships you build with the women and families we serve, the crisis management skills you will hone and the increased autonomy you and your coworkers will have in problem solving complex situations outside of regular business hours. You will also be energized understanding how your work contributes to the social change efforts in our community and will appreciate being part of a welcoming, passionate and upbeat team working to end violence against women.

CPR/First Aid is required. Previous residential work is an asset. A driver’s license is an asset. French or another second language is an asset.  Good Shepherd is an equal opportunity employer operating within an anti-racist and anti-oppression framework.

We strive to establish workplaces that reflect the rich diversity of the community we serve. Women-identified individuals of diverse communities are encouraged to apply.
