Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to support our activities and become a vital part of our dynamic team. This position is based at 105 Wellness Way, Toronto, with some opportunities to work from home if desired. This is a full-time permanent position with benefits.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a related field.
- 5+ years of communications-related work experience.
- Excellent writing, editing and interviewing skills.
- Experience with media relations.
- Experience writing for various brands and audiences, and able to develop content that speaks directly to a diverse range of people, industries, and demographics.
- High degree of accountability with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of digital and social media tools, trends, channel use and their business application.
- Proficiency with WordPress, Google and Microsoft suites, Customer Management Systems (such as Salesforce), and newsletter systems.
- Fluency in English.
Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of a media strategy while helping to manage and build media relationships to enhance Wellspring’s profile and awareness.
- Provide communications and media relations support to promote fundraising events.
- Liaise with staff across the organization to identify and write compelling member, donor and volunteer stories for various audiences.
- Support the Mission team in promoting Wellspring through outreach initiatives to increase engagement with healthcare professionals, associations and cancer-related health organizations.
- Collaborate with the team to optimize Wellspring’s digital and social media presence.
- Develop a broad range of communications materials, including speeches, presentations, newsletter articles, website copy, briefing notes, news releases, videos, promotional material, training manuals, social media content, donor stewardship messages, etc.
