FULL-TIME AREA MANAGER

(40 hours/week)

EAST DISTRICT (Serving the Ottawa and Kingston areas)

As a member of the East District Leadership Team and under the direction and supervision of the District Executive Director, the Area Manager is responsible for providing leadership support, supervision, coaching, and performance development in all matters of direct service. They ensure excellence in service delivery, employee relations, and Strategic Plan implementation to meet organizational outcomes. The Area Manager works within established policies and procedures, ensuring that Service Principles are upheld in service delivery, maintaining organizational integrity and accountability. An essential responsibility of the Area Managers includes the promotion of Christian Horizons, cultivating and nurturing organizational relationships within the local Christian community by offering expertise and supports, soliciting support and encouraging places of belonging for people who experience disabilities. The Area Manager also interviews, hires, provides orientation, equips and mentors new Program Managers. They are responsible for working collaboratively with subject matter experts to monitor the implementation of financial, human resource and clinical standards.  They liaise with agencies and participate in community planning and Ministry initiatives as directed.  The Area Manager is also responsible for sharing critical and timely information and reports with both their direct reports and the broader district team.

 

Requirements: Candidates should possess a relevant College Diploma (Bachelor Degree preferred) in General Arts, Social Work, or Business Administration, along with approximately 3 years’ experience in program management role.

 

Skills and Competencies: Competent and current in PCS and direct support team roles and responsibilities (formerly known as “Self-Managing Work Team”), and recruitment technical skills, conflict resolution and crisis management skills, advocating for others, creative problem solving and decision making, developing others, fostering independence in others, holding   people accountable, leading others, managing change, relationship/network building, resource management, strategic thinking. 

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, excellent organizational, documentation and communication skills, and be self-motivated. Must demonstrate sound judgment in making decisions, be capable of facilitating the resolution of contentious interpersonal conflicts, and possess analytical problem solving skills in the area of human resources, finances, and operations. Excellent computer skills are required. Frequent travel throughout the District is a regular part of the job, as are on-call responsibilities.
