The College of Dietitians of Ontario (the “College) is the governing body established by the provincial government to regulate the practice of dietitians in Ontario and exists to serve and protect the public interest. The College protects the rights of the public to safe competent and ethical care by ensuring that dietitians maintain professional standards of practice and are held accountable.
Position Summary
The Director of Finance and Corporate Services is a strategy-driven role reporting to the Registrar and Executive Director. This full-time position plays a critical role as a member of the leadership team, participating in the strategic direction and overall financial and operational management of the College. An adaptable self-starter with excellent communication skills, the successful candidate will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, human resources, administration, IT and operations. Duties include:
Financial Management

Lead the financial management function of the College and support the Registrar in all financial matters

Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that financial records are maintained in an accurate and confidential manner

Lead the College’s annual financial audit and ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies

Ensure that financial information is presented to Council on a timely and accurate basis to support Council decision making, including analysis of reserve funds

Lead the development of the annual budget and monitor expenditures and budget variances

Ensure timely, accurate and complete delivery of employee payroll and source deductions

Negotiate vendor contracts and manage vendor relations

Maintain banking functions, including working with external investment advisor, to monitor and make recommendations on College investments

Ensure adequate cash balances are maintained and manage cash flows optimally
Human Resources

Support the HR Manager in the Human Resource oversight function of the College

Participate in fostering a workplace culture of equity, inclusivity, belonging, mutual respect and motivated productivity, teamwork, collaboration, and information sharing
Council & Committees

Provide support to the Audit Committee

Prepare and provide annual financial education training for Council and Audit Committee members
Administrative and Operational
-
Work closely with Manager of Information and Technology, to ensure business needs are met and team has everything they need to succeed in their roles

Supervise, train, mentor and evaluate the work of Human Resources and Finance & Corporate Services staff

Contribute to the development and revision of the College’s financial governance and general administration policies and procedures
Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree with major in Finance or Accounting or related degree

CA, CPA, CFA and/or CMA designation would be an asset
-
At least 10 years of overall professional experience, with 5 plus years of broad financial and operations management experience managing budgets. The ideal candidate has previous experience having full responsibility over the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination and has overseen the finance, human resources, administration and operation functions

Not-for-profit experience is a plus, with a strong preference for someone who has operations experience in a fast-paced environment

Technologically savvy with knowledge of relationship management and accounting and reporting software; must harness technology solutions to quickly and efficiently communicate resources needed for key activities and evaluate performance against strategic priorities – experience specifically with the Sage 50 accounting systems is preferred

A successful track record in setting and carrying out strategic priorities; strong analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making

Excellent relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Flexible and adaptable with a keen eye for details

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and dedication to the mission and vision of the College

Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary $110,000 plus benefits. Salary may change depending on level of experience. We currently offer hybrid work arrangement.
