About this position

The Associate, Events manages, develops, cultivates and stewards relationships with third party event donors to assist the donors in achieving, creating, and executing their events to maximize the event potential and provide the best possible event donor experience.  The Associate will be responsible for acquiring, retaining and upgrading new and existing third party opportunities  with an emphasis on the identification of new business development opportunities. The Associate reports directly to the Associate Director, Events.

Specific duties include:

  • Participate in the planning, analysis and strategy of the Events Team including providing input into team processes, plan administration, system and program implementation and follow up of event funds;
  • Identify opportunities to grow and retain existing business through strategic development and execution of individual and departmental initiatives.
  • Manage, build and grow meaningful and effective relationships with third party event donors by providing event support including expertise, materials/supplies, attendance at events and by providing excellent customer service at all time;
  • Identify opportunities to acquire new third party event donors;
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate with the donor to maximize and grow the third party event potential including meeting and exceeding the fundraising revenue;
  • Works collaboratively with various Foundation Teams to build strong relationships to ensure a successful outcome of all events;
  • Develop and maintain external relationships with prospective donor groups;
  • Consults with and manages relationships within a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders including Hospital Staff, family/community donors, prospects and volunteers; and
  • Records donor, volunteer activities and financial information in the relationship database as required.
Required Experience

 

The successful applicant must possess the following:

  • Post secondary certificate/diploma in Fundraising, Non-Profit Management, Project Management or another related field;
  • Minimum three years experience in fundraising preferably third party event fundraising expierience in the not for profit sector;
  • Demonstrated strong client/customer service orientation with the ability to understand and respond to various levels of expectations from diverse stakeholders; and
  • Previous experience in new business development and/or business planning;
  • Sales experience would be an asset;
  • Experience with volunteer management;
  • Strong Project Management skills;
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with various timelines and handle competing and changing priorities;
  • Superior written and oral communication & presentation skills;
  • Display sound decision-making and judgment;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, creativity and flexibility;

*Temporary Full Time Position (13 Month Contract position for a Maternity/Parental Leave)
