About this position

Reporting to the Director, Development, the Manager, Marketing will be responsible for working closely with War Child Canada staff, partners, and other identified stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of marketing and advertising campaigns for both fundraising and specific events/programs. In addition he/she will manage the organization’s digital properties and execute the development of creative content and branding for fundraising initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Creative Content & Branding

  • Ensure fundraising marketing efforts and collateral regularly meet brand standards
  • Execute marketing collateral as needed in collaboration with department teams: Development, Corporate & Community Engagement and Communications (eg, Event and site signage, posters, sponsorship & gift proposals, presentation decks)
  • Support cause-marketing campaigns by developing promotional plans and materials
  • Capture and catalogue content, photos and video from field activity and events to be used in future collateral, advertising/marketing and donor communications
  • Develop copy and design for donor reports, promotional material and key publications
  • Act as point of contact for external printers and suppliers

Marketing & Advertising Campaigns

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to increase brand visibility and creatively and effectively promote organization activities and achievements
  • Develop, execute and measure ongoing success of marketing tactics and projects in a timely manner, and within budget
  • Liaises with external marketing contacts/agencies, volunteers, photographers and videographers as needed
  • Research and analyze marketing strategies utilized by the industry or competitors and maintain knowledge of current and evolving trends, as well as economic, political, technical and generalbusiness trends

Digital Marketing & Social Media

  • Consistently update and develop website content, as well as supporting creative and copy for other digital communications (Eg, UNXvision/Cause2Give, NetCommunity Spark, MailChimp)
  • Implement digital strategy and monitor success of online presence with a focus on donor engagement, public awareness and increased online fundraising capacity. Responsibilities include: plan, create, implement and report on e-marketing newsletters, online funding appeal campaigns and all social media activity (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, blog, Instagram)
  • Produce performance and analytics reports for website, social media, advertisements, and Google AdWords as required.
  • Help develop and produce videos to share through social media and at events

Qualifications:

Knowledge & experience               

  • Post-secondary education in fundraising, marketing, sales or similar, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Post-graduate degree in fundraising, marketing or sales considered an asset
  • 3 -5 years’ of professional experience in a marketing role
  • Knowledge of a wide range of marketing, communication and media platforms.
  • Excellent knowledge of on-line giving strategies and best practices for website, email and social media marketing.
  • Experience briefing and managing external partners in developing project plans and assessing performance.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications with knowledge of graphic design principles, layout and production of high-quality print or online
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high performance, team environment
  • Experience in videography and video editing an asset
  • Knowledge of HTML or experience in content management systems
  • Experience using a variety of social media tools and an understanding of best practices for their use (Eg, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Flickr)
  • Membership in good standing with a professional marketing association

Skills and abilities

  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to effectively present the organization to external stakeholders. Ability to write in both journalistic and marketing styles.
  • Ability to prioritize big picture ideas and execute into tangible actions.
  • Strong planning, project management and budget management skills; ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines and with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics and Google AdWords is an asset
  • Experience working with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
