About this position

The Associate Director, Events will be responsible for developing the strategy and leading the execution of new, existing and lapsed partnership events in the Family/Community portfolio to ensure the events reach their maximum revenue potential.  The Associate Director will direct, coach, and mentor the Assoicates under their assigned portfolio.  This position reports to the Director, Community Events.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, maintain and grow highly complex and/or sensitive relationships with existing and new event groups as outlined in specific portfolio;
  • Relationship Management responsibility to the highest revenue generating events (partnership);
  • Foster and develop a team of high performers and build a culture of excellence within the "Event Centre of Excellence" by:
    • Develop goals and expectations for employees in alignment with Events business plan/Foundation plan;
    • Support/mentor/coach employees career/professional development;
    • Build opportunities within plans/strategies for each employee to collaborate with others across all business channels;
  • Provide tactical expertise and coordination of events with Community/Family Event Organizers;
  • Leading by example to engage all stakeholders with the highest level of integrity, fairness and transparency;

  • In collaboration with the Director, Community Events develop and implement strategic and operational plans in concert with the financial plans;
  • Managing  and resolve donor interaction on sensitive topics (bereavement, receipting, Foundation/hospital policy, timelines) which can sometimes illicit strong opinions and viewpoints in a manner that ensures positive relaltionships, interactions and outcomes with the donor;
  • To be responsible for the overall management of the Associate with a focus on orientation, training, goal setting, monitoring performance and leading team development and encouraging professional development;
  • Identify and capitalize on new avenues to broaden networks and establish relationships with prospective high profile donors and partnerships and to re-engage lapsed donors where appropriate;
  • Provide event guidance, constant communication, problem solving solutions and correspondence to provide tools and support to event coordinators and donors to ensure successful fundraising efforts; and
  • Work together with the Directors and other Event Manager to create business plans for new, existing and lapsed business
Required Skills

The successful applicant should possess the following:

  • A University or Community College Degree (fundraising diploma an asset);
  • Minimum 5-7 years in a supervisory or leadership position;
  • Raiser's Edge Experience and/or other fundraising database experience;
  • Ability to participate and drive strategic thinking and carry plans forward into action;
  • Proven track record in events fundraising, generating new business and reaching revenue targets;
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a keen sense of diplomacy;
  • Ability to multi-task/prioritize and work in fast-paced environment while having the flexibility to take on reactive assignments or requests;
  • Ability to display good judgment and decision-making skills; and
  • Has knowledge and experience with the Canada Revenue Agency Receipting Guidelines.
