Aftermetoo is hiring a Managing Director to lead the development of the Rosa project!
Hi there! We are looking for a Managing Director to help lead the strategic and creative direction, and implementation of the Rosa project. This talented individual will work in collaboration with the Project Director and other key staff to bring to life the established vision for Rosa.
Rosa, a collaboration between Aftermetoo and Canadian Women’s Foundation, is a digital access to justice platform focused on workplace sexual harassment. Organized by province and territory, Rosa is there to guide workers through relevant laws, what to expect, and how to prepare when reporting. Our goal is to provide the workforce with tools to protect their rights and create accountability so that they can go to work in safety and are set up to succeed. Digital training is also being offered to workers and employers in various sectors across Canada.
Aftermetoo was formed in Canada in 2017 as a response to inadequate protections, systems and information to address workplace sexual harassment in the entertainment industry. Canadian Women’s Foundation is a national leader in the movement for gender equality. Other key partners on this project include Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, Aboriginal People’s Television Network and the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children.
Your Role
The Managing Director will provide strategic direction and manage the implementation of Aftermetoo’s primary project, Rosa. You will oversee all creative direction, platform development, communications, and special projects, including Changemaker Awards, podcasts, a digital magazine development. You will collaboratively work with the team to build strong alliances and partnerships with other organizations working in the sexual harassment space. You will contribute to building a strong team by seeking input from staff members and the Management Committee. You will also work with the Aftermetoo Board of Directors to oversee hiring, maintaining records, fundraising and ensuring sound financial practices within the organization.
This three year contract position reports to the Aftermetoo Board of Directors and the Rosa Management Committee (comprised of partners of the Rosa project).
Core Functions
Vision and Strategy

Develop Rosa’s culture and overall vision, in collaboration with key partners

Maintain awareness of the competitive market landscape and expansion opportunities

Ensure project centres on vulnerable and precarious workers across all sectors and maintains connection to the Arts sector

Assess risks with Directors and ensure risks are monitored and minimized

Set strategic goals, making sure that they are measurable

Create an environment that promotes great performance and positive morale
Content

Collaborate with Schlifer Clinic to finalize the plain language content for the platform while ensuring legal accuracy

Co-direct editorial of Rosa content and platform

Co-direct editorial direction of investigative reports

Ensure development contains access to mental health resources for platform users
Partnerships
-
Develop strategic collaborations and partnerships for Rosa

Support the development and ongoing work of the advisory groups
Special Projects

Direct editorial and creative direction on all special projects, including a digital magazine, short docs, podcast, Changemaker Awards, conferences and events
Advertising and Public Relations

Responsible for development and implementation of a public communications strategy, including communications on key issues, social media, special events

Coordinate development and implementation of an advertising strategy
Policy/Government Relations

Input into all project reporting to stakeholders and government

Develop and maintain government relations, with key partners

Collaborate on policy issues related to the workplace sexual violence, such as presenting positions or offering advice to policy makers
Fundraising

Input on fundraising and donor relations, including proposal content, relationship building, and special events
Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for a candidate with:

A university graduate in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise

A minimum of 7- 10 years’ work experience in non-profit sector, arts sector, or in a related field
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
-
Strong understanding of the Arts sector as well as the challenges facing vulnerable and precarious workers across all sectors

Extensive knowledge of workplace violence and harassment, and good understanding of the current systems of reporting

Experience developing or supporting communications strategies, including social media
-
Media training and comfort in being a spokesperson for the organization and on the issue of sexual harassment

Strong understanding of technology and how it can be utilized to improve access to justice for sexual violence survivors
-
Outside of the box thinking to create systemic change in attitudes and behaviours around sexual violence, particularly in places of employment
-
Strong gender and equity analysis
-
Ability to lead a team and manage the implementation of a large project with multiple funders
-
Experience working with a diverse group of partners, consultants and stakeholders
-
Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
-
Strong judgement and political acumen in order to identify and manage risk
-
National experience an asset
-
Ability to exercise independent judgement on a regular basis in resolving complex issues
Compensation: The salary range is $90,000 - $94,000.
