Position: Social Innovation Research Associate
Duration: Full-Time
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Office Location: Pickering, ON
Travel: 20% to client meetings in the GTA

General Duties:
As a Research Associate you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively and be instrumental in conducting research activities on social innovation/enterprise projects with some of Canada’s most successful social impact initiatives and organizations.  Your work will make a difference in our communities.  The incumbent will report directly to the Project Leader and be accountable for ensuring project deliverables are completed on time, project teams are well-coordinated and clients are satisfied.  To be successful in this position the candidate will need to be a confident leader and possess excellent communication skills since they will be coordinating and conducting research.  The position will require the candidate to have excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills, ability to analyze large data sets and above average writing skills to synthesize information in research reports and learning summaries.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Write evaluati0n reports, feasibility studies, business plans, research analysis and other research summary documents
  • C0nduct qualitative and quantitative research as per project parameters
  • Assist in designing data collection tools and research methodology
  • C0-facilitate meetings with the project lead and other project team members
  • Coordinate teams of associates, support staff, researchers and interns on project and research related activities
  • Coach and develop support staff, providing skills training, as well as developing processes and procedures for streamlining research processes
  • Pr0vide regular progress updates through continuous communication on each project with the President/Project Leader and other staff
  • Liaise with Clients via phone and email and facilitate regular check-ins to keep them updated on project progress
  • Act as a liaise with other in-house research team members, consultants and independent contractors
  • Ensure high quality deliverables
  • Proposal writing, editing and formatting
  • Other duties as necessary

Ideal Skills and Qualifications:

Education
  • A Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent level of experience

  • Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Ability to consolidate and analyze data
  • Grasp complex concepts and systems

  • Proven experience in coordinating and conducting projects
  • Excellent understanding of staying within budget and workplan timelines

Ideal Candidate:
  • Post-grad with a minimum of 2 years experience in conducting research for consulting contracts (at least 1 year of direct experience in coordinating research teams is preferred)
  • Must have successfully conducted research and coordinated/supported the successful completion of consulting projects
  • Must have experience in and intimate knowledge of the community benefit, social change, and social economy sectors
  • Experience working on multi-stakeholder collaborative projects considered an asset

Evaluation:
  • Performance evaluations will be conducted on a semi-annual basis and reviewed with the President.  Quarterly less formal check-ins will also be scheduled to monitor and support employee progress

Unique Requirements:
  • Some project work may be required outside of regular office hours to support critical time lines and/or critical deliverables
  • Some daytime travel may be required for client meetings
